Now that you're past the first break, you can win a lot of chips just
completing the bring-in, especially if you're a seat or two to the right
of the bring-in. Those antes and bring-ins add up. Also, never check if
you're first to act. Bet it! Now for my brag....

PokerStars Tournament #37780123, Limit Razz

Dear Raiders Rule,

You finished the tournament in 4th place.
A $44.17 award has been credited to your Real Money account.

Not true. There are several times when a check is absolutely correct when
first to act. One of the most obvious being something like (xx)34KQ vs
(xx)4A6A

hehe thanks. I actually chopped headsup for $1238 or so each, but posting
that email was more impressive looking. I was 6/6, then 5/5, then 4/4,
then 3/3...each time I offered the table an even chop. Headsup he had me
covered 2:1, I won the first real hand for a double up, and he immediately
asks if I wanted to chop. I'm horrible headsup as it is, and PLO8 was a
game that I'd literally only played a few times before deciding to
concentrate on it about 2 weeks before that tourney, so I jumped on the
deal. Of course I won it 8 hands later :)

Very important that your cards are live. Always read the board and if you can,
memorize it. It's usually not that hard. The main cards to keep track of are
A-8, although an abundance of face cards is also nice. Quickly committting
something like 2-2-3-4-6 to memory is not that tough.

The best cards you can see out are your door card in other people's hands,
especially when they fold. That means you are less likely to pair your door
card, which is the worst thing that can happen to you. You are going to be
betting your board most of the time, so it is best that it be pretty. Next
best is your other cards. If you have 873 with 3 up and you see 3,3,7,7,8
out, you're golden. But if you have 765 with 7 up, and A,A,2,3,4 is out,
you're in trouble. The right dead cards turn marginally playable hands into
good hands and good hands into marginal hands. You should be less
inclined to play or keep drawing in these situations.

Hmmm...this razz lark is easier than it looks...got through to the first break
with above average chips...how?

Mind you....it'll help a bit more if I have had AAK, AAA, QQQ and KKK as my
starting hands...all within the first hours....wonder if those cards will follow
me if I go to a stud table?

Open with hands that are three cards 8 or less, 9 or less if you're
disparate to make something happen. Ignore suits, you don't care. Be
hyper aggressive when you're ahead, call down 6th and 7th if you're not
sure if they have the goods, and you've got 8 low. Push hard with 7 low
harder with 6 low, and everything with 5 low. Good luck!

I'd also add 2 to a wheel if one of them is your up card.

Of course, that old adage sucked for lowball, and it also sucks in this

I actually did this once in Bill Chen's homegame with exactly
that hand. I completed, JP Massar raised, and I reraised.
I went to put the fourth bet in when someone said, "You know
it's razz, right?"

"Oh. I fold."

Oh, one more...on 3rd street, only 3 bet it if you think it will get you
isolation on someone. Otherwise in general, and this is one of those
general comments that don't always apply, but in general in low limit razz
tourneys like this there aren't many streets that go more than 1 raise.

Suit yourself, Peg. Go ahead and take that attitude. But I don't wanna
hear you whining when I won't reveal any of my secrets to you about my
system for beating the Wheel of Fortune machines in Vegas. And, I might
add, the mathwork in this system is extremely complex. I worked on it for
months. I can now get a return of 100.83%, and can easily get over .33% in
cashback at many casinos, PLUS comps. So if I can easily push through over
$6000 an hour through these machines, you go ahead and do the mathwork and
tell me how much profit I'll make. I'm going to need wheelbarrows to haul
the money I make to the bank. I can hire some moron like Morphy to push the
wheelbarrows for me, while I'm in the buffet.

Got any percosets then? That's the only way I can do it.

Basic rundown, 3 to an 8 to start. It's more about playing other people's
boards than your own, but that assumes that your opponents look past their
own cards and can fold. Track your dead cards and get out when it makes
no sense. Example: you have 875, there's 2 3's and a 4 dead, just fold
it, especially if someone raises.

Watch for the people who bet out on one street, hit a low card then pause
and check on a later street. This often means they've paired up. Let's
see what else...basically it's a fucked up game where you can go 75/25
25/75 75/25 on alternating streets every hand.

I'd go for the percosets tho.

Starting hands --

Don't reach for chips until you've been dealt 3 cards.
