Allyn Jaffrey Shulman recently interviewed the President of the American Gaming Association. The three parts have been published at the CardPlayer Web Site, www.cardplayer.com. It is very interesting reading and contrary to the belief of many nay-sayers around here, ON-LINE POKER IS NOT DEAD OR ILLEGAL for US based players. The article gives a complete history of the bill, the back-room deal history of how it came to be and "the shady political" (my words, not in the interview) tactics by which it was passed in the US Congress and Senate.

Whether or not it is legal is a matter of legal opinion, not fact. The issue has not been resolved by a court satisfactorily. It is illegal where state law explicitly prohibits it, and may or may not be illegal for a variety of other reasons under federal law. It's reasonable to hold the opinion it is legal, but it is not crazy to believe it is illegal, either. Until there is a ruling or series of rulings on it, we don't really know. Even in the absence of such a ruling, though, the legal uncertainty is crippling to the business.

The group has turned to debating the existence of God, life on other planets and of course conflicting political views. I take it you are an American player. If you want to know FT's opinion then you will have to contact them but as far as i know the will be business as usual and the 270 day thing was a myth. _______________________________________________________________ New Feature: Mark All As Read! - http://www.recpoker.com
