I have dumb questions: 1) what is weather like? any special gear needed? 2) do people "dress up"? or is it as casual as the rest of America? (Somehow I don't think TV show Las Vegas is quite realistic... I mean is it a law for women to show so much cleavage???) 3) How tiny do the stakes go? I could do 1/2 without major coronary events... and where might tiny stakes be had? I only have one hour of playing live under my belt so far... I would enter tourneys up to $50 as well... preferably smaller, lol. 4) Where would I go to WATCH big stakes exciting games, the kind I know I could never play??? 5) Best guidebook??? 6) any other advice about what to do, where to play, what to see, what to be sure NOT to miss... most appreciated... Thank you. _______________________________________________________________ * New Release: RecPoker.com v2.2 - http://www.recpoker.com

Gets a might chilly in December...it IS in the desert. Go to Bellagio for the big games. Earlier this year, I saw Gus and Harman playing 4,000-8,000 blinds. For cheaper fun, go downtown. Cheap stakes, and a casino has - or used to have - a game where you can play tic-tac-toe against the chicken. Casino Royale - next to the Venetian on the Strip - also has some nice cheap fun. I happen to be a big fan of cleavage, but watching "Las Vegas" on TV is not a true representation of any of the card rooms I've ever played in. Maybe in the big clubs like "Light" or others in that "trendy scene", but usually not in the casinos or card rooms. > > 3) How tiny do the stakes go? Unfortunately 1-2 NL and 3-5 NL have basically taken over the landscape, but there still are plenty of 3-6, 4-8 limit games and a few 1-4-8 and 1-4-8-8 games. There are MANY tourneys under $50 (see my answer under guidebook question) > > 4) Where would I go to WATCH big stakes exciting games, the kind I know I > could > never play??? Bellagio "Bobby's Room" usually has the highest stakes games in town. There are some games at the Wynn, Mirage, and once in a while Red Rock. > 5) Best guidebook??? If you're here for a POKER trip, nothing beats http://www.allvegaspoker.com . I live here and I consult it before going out. They have all of the current info on all of the rooms, games, limits and tourneys in Vegas. > 6) any other advice about what to do, where to play, what to see, what to > be > sure NOT to miss... most appreciated... A lot of that depends on your bankroll, your time in town, and what you like to do AWAY from the poker tables. > Thank you. You're quite welcome. Rick "DaVoice" Charles

"Stu Ungar Fan" gave very good advice. For rooms, vegas.com For really good general advice, cheapovegas.com Some general blog information, lasvegasvegas.com (There is a list, usually, of all the upcoming tournaments.) My wife Dianne and I will be in vegas from the 14th through the 20th ... play mostly at the Venetian. She has a giant pile of red hair. (And she is really pretty!) As for the "pickles" and you are likely to find us if we are there. ($3 an hour for comps ... you cannot beat it!) There are a million tournaments that you would enjoy. Almost everywhere and almost all the time. Good luck and have a blast.
