Subject: Where to stay near Commerce?

Dear RGPers-

I have a plan to fly to Commerce in a few weeks. Of course I can play
poker more than a week for leisure.

The on-site hotel in(actually on) Commerce may not be good since it is
too close and play too much time. Looking for other place. Last
time I had a chance to stay at the Wyndham thru priceline.com with a
good price.

Any suggestion regarding a good hotel with cheap price is appreciated.

Thanks.

-Jay

I stay at Commerce 3 or 4 times a month. Total poker :) If the hotel
is already booked and I forgot to get a reservation there is a Ramada
about 3 miles away and also a Wyndham a couple of blocks away, but more
costly (over priced in my opinion)

The Poker rate is 109.00 a night. Last time I called Wyndham it was
156.00, but I didnt try the priceline thing.
I enjoy staying at Commerce sleep well and I can eat, breath, and sleep
poker :) At least till Sat. morning when I have to work a few hours
and then back to poker.

The couple of times I stayed at the Ramada it was not that bad. This
is NOT the one accross the street from the bike that place is scary.

Ramada was not good for me too. Wyndham, close to a mall, is very
good with good price thru priceline.com

But I never sleep at on-site Commerce hotel before. Any experience,
guys?

-Thanks

Wyndham is nice. Nice beds too. Love the matresses they use. And all
those pillows.

The mall is the Citadel. That used to be an old Firestone or Uniroyal
building, tire factory or something. Can't remember. Does anyone here
remember what kind of business the Citadel was 30-40 years ago?

The only time I ever stayed on-site at the Commerce was during the main
event of the CSPC back in 2001 or 2002, whichever was the first year they
had the hotel. It was very nice, although very pricey. Thank God
Cardplayer picked up the tab.

The Citadel outlet mall saved the outside of an old tire plant. I dont
recall the tire brand, but it might have been Uniroyal. The outlet
mall opened in 1989 and about three years ago had a major expansion.

There are two other outlet malls within 90 minutes of the Citadel-- one
near Palm Springs, and another in Ventura County. If you are going
shopping, the others are nicer than the Citadel, but the Citadel will
do in a pinch.
