Last night I was playing in a satellite where the top 14 players advanced.  We
were playing hand for hand with 15 players left.  I was watching the other
table, when the following scenerio came about.............First of all, when it
says hand for hand, I thought that meant one table had to wait for the other to
complete it's hand before continuing......but actually both tables were playing
at the same time.  Anyway, the cheap leader at the other table had over 45k (i
was 2nd with 15k), and (he) was running over everyone.  He gets into an argument
with another player at his table.  After the flop, those 2 players are the only
one's left in the pot..........meanwhile at my table a player got knocked out,
and the message comes up that we had advanced...........back at the other table
everyone is telling the guy up against the chip leader to go ahead and fold
because it was over, but he pushed anyway, and got busted.
I have never seen this before, so since the player at my table went out on the
bubble, does that mean the player that got busted by the big stack got in
anyway, as would they both have tied for 15th or what?

In hand for hand, both tables start each hand at the same time. If one
table just folds around, raise from the button, take the blinds, they
have to wait for the other table to finish.

The player with the smaller stack is the one who finishes 15th.

Since they both bust on the same hand, time is not a factor. Stack size
is.

Probably what you missed, but the computer picked up on is that the
player had less chips in his stack than anyone left in the pot at the
other table. If the guy at the other table had less chips, it would
not have been announced to your table that everyone is moving on.
Instead it would have likely announced that your table has pausing and
waiting for the other table to finish up.

One there were only 15 left, the guy at the other table had nothing to
gain nor lose from taking one last shot at the big stack. Its sort of
like a basketball player who steals the buzzer and at the last second
takes a final shot from mid-court even though his team is already on
top and had enough points to win. I suppose its more for ego than
anything else.

These are good observations though. I am sure a lot of other readers
were under the same impression and its good to share your
misimpressions with people who otherwise wouldn't know.

Good Luck!

The one who started with the biggest stack advances. (This is the same
general principle like if 3 players left all go in, and big stack wins,
smallest stack takes third etc...).

And really dumb play, which should have knocked him out anyways.
