Subject: Razz hand - great read by opponent, or donk play? (BAHH)

I dont know much about razz, but I figured myself to be ahead on
4th with A743 vs xx48 (turned out to be 6848). He suddenly raised
when I hit an A on 6th. Did he read that the A paired me and so
his K-8-xxx might be best?

Absolutely correct.

The reason he made this play was a bluff attempt. He needed to
represent he had a made 8 so if you missd and he missed, he could bet
and win the pot. He should've folded right away, but was stubborn. The
A could have paired you, or not.

This is part of playing poker.

Ok thanks for that. Next hand below (this is the last one, I promise).
I dont understand firstly how he could call on 3rd, and then how
he could call on 6th (he currently has K-Q-xxx and is drawing to
a Q-8 at the very best; 90% of the time he will be drawing dead here.
The only way he can win is if I have the worst possible down
cards (which I did happen to have).

Is this normal razz play?

BTW feel free to post as many Razz hands as you want. I wish Russ would
comment on some of these.

This one I really don't understand. I could understand if he was drawing
to an 8, but it looks like he was drawing to a T, and he should have put u
on a 9, or he thought you had what you had (crap). or he's just a huge
fish. But his most likely excuse is his chip stack vs. yours, and he
possibly thinks you are bluffing because your stack is low. I'm not
really sure. It's not a hand I would have played. But in a $1 tourney,
you get a lot of idiots.

I think he made a good read. Pretty likely if he didn't have an ace, you
probably paired.

I think the read is okay, but I don't like the raise. If the guy is right, his

his hand is a huge dog. OTOH I haven't done the math on that.
