So - took a few weeks off due to endless beatings. Read a bit, did
non-poker stuff - came back. I think I'm concentrating better, and finally
getting the occasional insight into the game. I'd been playing nothing but
Stud/8, and while it rocked early, I was just breaking even now.
So - decided to rededicate myself to NLHE (a some micro HORSE tourneys)
and see if I could make any progress. So far, though I have no great
winnings, I think I'm playing better. Been trying a tourney now and then.
I still am not able to find the magic switch to allow me to build chips,
but I'm making better decisions, mostly along the lines of folding close
calls, and picking good spots to steal the blinds.
Thought I'd try one of the 90p SnG's tonight. Really think I played as
well I ever have. I milked a short stack the entire tourney - don't think
I reached 50% of the average stack after the break, but got down to 25
left (money at 18) and got a chance to catch up a little when two lovely
Aces appeared before me.
I knew I could not afford to limp. Plus, on the previous hand a big stack
had min-raised and I said "that's either a huge hand, or junk pretending
to be a good hand." He got called by A-7o...big stack had KK. So the
"please call me" min-raise was out. So I figured a "normal-ish" bet might
tease a call out of someone, or better, a push - and I got my wish.

I am very used to playing it perfectly and getting cheated by the
cheating site. It would bother me more if I needed help. That pretty
much never happens though. The only help I generally need is the
"help" of dodging both my opponent's outs. Generally they bring it,
which is proof that the site is cheating. If you think that them
bringing the help for the underdog more than half the time isn't proof
that they are cheating you need to learn a little more about
probability.
