Hello All, Is anyone interested in helping me along to become a better player? I have been playing for over 4 years, but mainly recreational. Recently I have been having a difficult time turning even a small profit form the limits I play @ B&M casinos. I have read a few books (Hellmuth, Sklansky, Harrington, Gordon, Caro) and learned a little, but am wondering if anyone is interested in helping me become better. I am a professional investigator working for a law firm, make under 50k a year, am 29 and am in school for Internet Technology, have a girlfriend with no kids, play small LHE stakes at B&M casinos, play small 10.00 buy in tourneys with friends and play free roll MTT NLHE tourneys online. I am not interested in playing online for money except for fun with everyone on here and the occasional tourney, but more so want to focus on tourney and cash game play in live games. If anyone is willing let me know. And please do not take offense if I ask some of the other people on here if the person interested in helping is really good enough to do it.

I had a chat recently with the only person I know who makes a living playing poker. I don't know how well he does but he's been at it ten years and drives a $150,000 car and owns a 55 foot yacht. We asked him if he would sell our club a few hours of his time for tips. He said not to bother. He said if you read the poker books it's really ALL about the math UNLESS you know the people you are playing with. He said, study the odds and play them, that's what he does. If you read people well, and get a chance to use the skill that's just a bonus.

I wish I could help, but I am starting to wonder if I even know how to play poker. I have seen very positive reviews for the help that Russ G. has offered people. If you ever need help with Internet Technology & Internet Security, I would be glad to help.. Scott -------- looking for a better newsgroup-reader? - www.recgroups.com

Poker.......not so much. and yes, I found some usefull strategies on Russ's website. I was one of the lucky ones he gave a free temp sponsorship to. It's not like sitting down with Harrington for a one on one session, but I did read some things there that have changed the way I look at the game. I'll let ya know the short term results as I see them. Too soon now. ----- looking for a better newsgroup-reader? - www.recgroups.com
