Need some advice playing middle pairs in STTs - my general experience has been
successful, but my general observation is that I'd actually prefer to play them
as first in to the pot. Calling with them in positon is actually tough for me.

If I'm first in, and get raised, easy fold. If I get called, I am betting out
most flops. If I get raised on the flop, I dump it. Playing with position can
actually be more expensive and difficult.

With a MP raise, I call on the button with 99. Flop is 842 rainbow. MP bets, I
raise, he reraises, I gotta dump it figuring trips or a bigger pair.

If I bet that flop and get raised, it only costs me 1 bet.

Opinions?

Or he has a hand like 66/77 and figures you to be making a move.

Is calling the flop so wrong? That's what most pros would do. In limit,
you have a clear raise, not so in NL.

I'm not so sure you have to raise on that flop with position. You're
likely folding the hands you beat (except maybe A8, who might go with
you) and getting called/reraised by hands that beat you. Sometimes I
just call there, they usually will donk off some more chips with AK. I
do think you have to fold to the reraise unless you know MP is loosey
goosey. Another alternative is to reraise preflop.

You are the best argument going for a plonk list.

Wow, did I kill your dog? Denigrate your race? Kick you in the nuts?
No, someone listed nearly every single way/reason that middle pairs can
be hard. They have always been hard, since the beginning of time.
Some people feel it is easier to have the lead, others want to act
later, and some never play. It seems that no matter, middle pairs are
hard.

And whoops, there was a funny angle. Not racist, unless you are a
Betazoid. And that is the reason for kill-files. Go ahead, really...
It was better than this. For both of us.

Yes, develop psychic powers. Apparently, according to Next Generation,
empathetic powers are not enough. It's what the pros do.
