Time magazine is so full of crap. If it weren't for every doctor's office, library, and school library, Time, Newsweek, and U.S. News and World Report would not have any subscriptions. The person of the year was John Murtha who reminded Democrats they have a backbone and should use it! Or, Nanci Pelosi, who will be the first female leader of the House. Who would have imagined this San Francisco liberal becoming speaker of the House a year ago? Or, Howard Dean, Rahm Emanuel, and Charles Schumer, who together put the Democratic candidates out there to win the last election. But do they give it to a Democrat? Nope. Their wealthy masters would not allow them to do that. So they go lame and pick "YOU." They could have at least given it to Donald Rumsfeld for overseeing what is possibly the biggest disaster in American history. Better yet, give it to Iran and Ahmadinejad for being the real winners. And even better - give it to the insurgents in Iraq who are doing the winning. And what's with these freaking religious covers every Christmas time? The Real Jesus! The Real Mother Mary! The Real etc.. Do they really believe those right wing Southern conservatives actually read Time and Newsweek?

John Murtha was a hell of a man in his day. Unfortunately he's lost his marbles and spine. Now he's just another sad old left wing coward. In twenty years of military service I knew a number of very brave men, some of whom I wouldn't have trusted with money any farther than I could have thrown them. Physical courage doesn't guarantee honesty.

Is that the same John Murtha who: Joined the Marines in 1952. Earned the American Spirit Honor Medal, awarded to fewer than 1 in 10,000 recruits. Drill Instructor, Parris Island. (Yeah, he's just a big pussy). Remained in Marine Corps Reserves after his discharge from active duty. Volunteered for Vietnam in 1966. Served as the S-2 intelligence officer for the 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. Received the Bronze Star with Combat "V", two Purple Hearts and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. Awarded the Navy Distinguished Service Medal by the Marine Corps Commandant when he retired from the Marines. Yeah, what a jerk. What did shrub do in the military again?

Would that be the same John Murtha who used his position as ranking Democratic member of the House Appropriations Committee's Defense Appropriations Subcommittee to steer money to the clients of his brother Robert, a Capitol Hill lobbyist? The same John Murtha who was caught on video coyly neither accepting nor refusing the offer of a bribe from FBI Abscam undercover agents; the same guy who then failed to report the offer? Would that be the same Nancy Pelosi whom even the staunchly left-wing editors of the Washington Post wrote had cost herself considerable political capital, even within her own party, by backing "the corrupt Murtha" for House Majority Leader? Would these be the same Democrats who promised to change the "culture of corruption" in D.C.? Meet the new boss, same as the old boss... Of course, Time has been known to pick a bad person as "Person of the Year". But that doesn't seem to be what you had in mind.

They should have made you the man of the year Von. The warmth and joy you bring us makes every day of the year seem like Christmas. Thanks man. I agree. That was one big cop out. The Economist is the only really good news mag out there. On Dec 17 2006 4:55 PM, Von Fourche wrote: > Time magazine is so full of crap.
