WTF? Over the last few weeks I have seen a number of high limit players
wearing black nail polish.
What is this about? Is there any defined meaning or is it just an attempt
at some sort of anti-social behavior?
One guy even wears black eyeliner( this guy plays 60 mix regularly).

Some said it might be drug related....
Anyone know?

It's actually a very, very inside joke gone wrong.

There's a band called The Deathray Davies. They have an album called
'Midnight at the Black Nail Polish Factory'. One of the songs on this
album is called "You Can Keep a Straight Poker Face or Play Dead in the
Movies".

All it took was 1 or 2 Deathray Davies fans playing poker, wearing
black nail polish and... suddenly it's a great idea for a million
reasons!

Ah well.

Googled them and found a page an a half of hits, but nothing else...
Interesting, so what is the inside joke?
Is there something in the lyrics ( if there are any, the samples I found
were only 30 seconds) that reveals anything else?

I don't know but I am going to make a guess. The nail bed, (the skin
under the nail), is full of blood vessiles. A heightened emotional
state would cause a 'blushing' of the nail bed, so it might be seen as
a tell. The polish could be used to mask increased blood flow.

What is total bulls**t? That I don't know? That I am going to take a
guess? My theory re blood flow? How do you know what motivates men to
wear nail polish? Perhaps you are one of those who wear Revlon #643,
deep black? Or maybe you are speaking about the fact the following
observation you make is BS. If you are using crude language, at least
be specific or else you'll come across as an a-hole.

This of course is total bullshit
HOWEVER
If you can promote this you just might make a million selling products to hide
the tell and books on how to spot the true tell not the false tell :)

This is one of the most insane things I've read in a long time.

It's just poker, people play it because they like to gamble or to make
money. NOBODY is that serious about it that they obsessively seek out little
edges like this.

This reminds me of how someone who played against Andy Beale for a bit in
the 10k-20k or whatever it was drunk at the time, and Beale could not
believe that he was really drunk. He thought it far more likely the guy was
feigning being drunk to get Beale to 'let down his guard' or something.

I constantly see people on RGP or other forums make absurd speculations like
this. For example if Negreanu makes some donk play on HSP someone will
always chime in with the theory that DN was just doing it for 'advertising'
to get rich whales to play him at even higher stakes.

Ludicrous.

I used to know a guy at AJ's in San Bruno who was a Transvistite.  He was also
an ex-con, former heavy-weight boxer, and had been no-billed as self-defense
twice on homicide charges.

He made an interesting looking woman, but didn't dress as a woman at the
card-room.  He did wear his hair in a pony tail when he dressed as a man.

One day he showed up with fingernail polish and sat at the table I was at.  "Hi,
Gary", he said.  I said, "Hi, Cheif" (the nick he used at the cardroom, his real
name was Barbara, he'd actually had it changed.

He sat next to a retired longshoreman.

After a few minutes he got up from the table for a short break.

When he got up the retired long shoreman looked at me and said, "Do you know
that guy".

"Yeah", I said.

"I was wondering.  He's got red fingernail polish on", he said.  "I was
wondering if I should ask him about that?."

"No", I said.

"Okay"

It's that whole "teenage angst/ I hate my parents, they don't understand me/ I'm
a unique, tortured artist" fad.  They'll grow out of it.
