I'm leaving for Vegas in about 15 minutes. I've been working on a system for playing the Wheel of Fortune machines. What I don't know about math could fit on the tip of your little finger. When I come home with all the money, I will write a trip report and you will all beg me for my system. I did not do all the work on it just to give it to people who doubted me on this simple math problem with Verizon, which really turned out not to be a math problem at all but just semantics. I don't care. The foolish can doubt. But I'll be going to the bank soon, and laughing all the way. -Paul Popinjay

Me: well, 80,000 dollars, or 80,000 cents? Paul: I know so much about math me me me me me I am great, ego ego me me me me me, you don't understand. Me: Right. So you won 80 bucks? or 800 bucks? or 80 cents? Paul: Like I said, I won 80,000. It's not a math problem at all, it's just a matter of semantics. Me: Enjoy your cup of coffee with that, sir. They never had a chance. We all envy you so... Oh, by the way, when you are cashing out, say for 100,000( easy figure , just for kicks didn't want to confuse you further with decimals and such)... tell them you will take that as 100,000 cents rather than 100,000 dollars. Its the same thing, right? 100,000 is 100,000 ( like .002 cents is the same as.002 dollars)

The problem with this is merely semantics. The total amount of the phone bill should be the same, about $71, no matter what. When multiply the rate of .002, times the amount of usage, it comes out the same when you adjust for the minutes by dividing the figure by 60. So really this guy was just pulling a prank on the phone company and wasting their time, when the customer service people were completely right in saying what the rate was that he was charged and what the final balance of the bill was, after the final adjustment. As Gary Carson said in the original thread, you need to make the proper assignment of "C", but he failed to divide by 60. So I don't know what your purpose is for posting this is, but obviously you do not understand basic math. And neither does Wayno. Thx, -Paul Popinjay

So I'm 9,313 messages behind on rgp, I would have bet the farm that I was the only Verizon thread; apologies to A Man Beaten By Jacks, December 9th., "Verizon morons". I should never have thought I'd be first with an important breaking news story on rgp, I'm going to try over on news.bbc.co.uk

Though not as sad as thinking the Verizon people are bringing in ever newer and newer people, and an ever-widening cast of characters, all with oddly similar-sounding voices. ____________________________________________________________________ : the next generation of web-newsreaders : http://www.recgroups.com

Its very difficult to feign being that ignorant, I don't think it began as a troll, but as he realized how wrong his thinking was he continued it as such. The manifest function then become plausible deniability and ability to claim, (or hope we will for him) the entire diatribe as an exercise in how gullible WE are and attempt to exonerate himself from being such a moron. > Morphy > http://donkeymanifesto.blogspot.com > > ______________________________________________________________________ > looking for a better newsgroup-reader? - www.recgroups.com > >
