Yes, it's similar to the feeling I got when I watched those Faces of Death videos (the videos that represented that they were showing footage of 'real' deaths) back in high school. Of course, Faces of Death are considered sick and United 93 is considered brilliant ... On Dec 11 2006 4:03 PM, Kinnipak wrote: > Saw the DVD last night. I have watched many documentaries, but the events are still much too recent to watch them in an entertainment setting. Not that I can't watch war dramas, I watch them all the time. If someone who lived through WWII said "I still cannot watch things like "Saving Private Ryan" or "Band of Brothers" to me in 2000, I don't think I would have really understood what they meant.

I won't watch crap like Oliver Stone's film -- crap intended to be dramatizations, intended to capitalize on the tragedy. I did watch the replay of the "live" feed on 9/11/2006 on CNN Pipeline, and I did watch "United 93", which I don't think fits the above description. I saw it in the theater. I didn't go to be entertained. I knew why I was going when I bought the ticket. I was going to have my anger renewed (as if I needed it). We may "never forget", but sometimes we need a kick in the pants (like this film) to make sure. Jester

A friend of mine rented Saving Private Ryan and we were watching it. His Grandfather walked into the room took the VHS out smashed it and walked back out of the room. His Mom explained that when he came back from the war the first thing he told the family was it was never to be discussed. It wasn't and still isn't even after his passing. Even though it was never discussed I know it was never forgotten. Anyone who saw the live coverage of 9/11 will never forget either. _______________________________________________________________ New Feature: Mark All As Read! - http://www.recpoker.com

i think it takes all the fun out of a movie when you know how it ends before you see it. On Dec 11 2006 12:03 PM, Kinnipak wrote: > Saw the DVD last night.
