Tom Delay blog: Speaker-elect Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi announced today that some of the remaining recommendations of the 9/11 commission report would not be implemented during the 110th Congress. When asked about it, she said, You can't do them all." This is of no shock to me, but it is a stark departure from the Democrat Party s promise leading up to the 2006 midterm that the remaining commission recommendations would be implemented. Despite their rhetoric for months, this announcement should come as no surprise given that before the election, Capitol Hill Democrats repeatedly voted against the commission s findings. Below are just three examples: 174 Democrats voted against H.R. 895, legislation which enabled law enforcement officers to track terrorists. 152 Democrats voted against H.R. 418 the REAL ID Act, which established standards for state-issued ID s. 120 Democrats voted against H.R. 5005, the Homeland Security Act of 2002, the legislation which established the Department of Homeland Security as an executive department. While the Republican 109th Congress addressed most of the commissions recommendations, a few remain. The Democrats campaigned on this now the ball is in Nancy s court. _______________________________________________________________ * New Release: RecPoker.com v2.2 - http://www.recpoker.com

Which ones was she referring to? > This is of no shock to me, but it is a stark departure from the Democrat Party s > promise leading up to the 2006 midterm that the remaining commission > recommendations would be implemented. > > Despite their rhetoric for months, this announcement should come as no surprise > given that before the election, Capitol Hill Democrats repeatedly voted against > the commission s findings. Below are just three examples: > > 174 Democrats voted against H.R. 895, legislation which enabled law enforcement > officers to track terrorists. What was the reason for voting against HR 895? Usually claims of "They voted against..." do not include the context. For instance, would you accuse someone who voted against the online gambing bill as "VOTING AGAINST PORT SECURITY CHANGES AS RECOMMENDED BY THE 9/11 COMMISSION"?? I bet you would, you dishonest asshole. > 152 Democrats voted against H.R. 418 the REAL ID > Act, which established standards for state-issued IDs. Again, no context. My particular state has very good standards for state issued ID's. > 120 Democrats voted > against H.R. 5005, the Homeland Security Act of 2002, the legislation which > established the Department of Homeland Security as an executive department. Again, no context. Isn't this the same bill that demoted FEMA from a cabinet level department? > While the Republican 109th Congress addressed most of the commissions > recommendations, a few remain.
