: >),i wonder how they define fragrance,i guess their not aroma free.if
a person was bothered by the smell of coffee being brewed i guess they
might have to develope a policy about that.

if you need the job i hope you get it,guess you'll have to adapt,i'm
just wondering where the line is drawn, could they fire you for not
practicing hygiene according to the company handbook?when is a attorney
called for discrimatory practices?

i understand that people may be sensitive to cetain odors,i would think
a companty would try to deal with one employee rather than mandating
something for all.

My wife works for a company that has a similar policy. it stems fromt he head of
HR being alergic to perfume. My wife did not know this and when she went for her
interview with her she wore perfume. Needless to say it had to be rescheduled.
All is fine now.

Some other fun rules are:
Popcorn was deemed an offensive oder my one company but fish and curry were
allowed.

A peanut free zone inside a cafateria that was serving Kung-Pow Chicken.

During the SARS break out the cafeateria and all common rooms were closed
including conference rooms but the "No food at your desk" policy was no lifted
and was enforced.

Speaking of fragrances...I had a chance recently to interview for a job where
the office went out of its way to promote itself as 'deodorant and
fragrance-free'.  I can only imagine the stench that must build up in the
meeting rooms.  The position was with a disability rights advocacy group - not
sure if that had something to do with their proclamation.
