Subject: L.A. trip report - reverse rampage (sorta)

On my recent LA trip I had an unusual night of poker that was brought about by a combination of events and numerous Ultra beers. When I arrived at Hawaiian Gardens I signed up for three games: 15-30 and $100 buy in NL and 6-12 full kill Omaha 8. I was quickly called to a $100NL buy in where I won my 1st hand and was immediately called to the 15-30 holdem game so I left the $100NL with a profit of $6. My 1st hand at 15-30 was AK spades and I lost $45 with it. After that the cards were friendly for the rest of the evening. The 15-30 game was always short handed and didnt appear it was going to last much longer so when I was called to the 6-12 Omaha8 after about 45 minutes I decided to take my $400+ win and move to the Omaha game. This game (like many Omaha games) was filled with a bunch of jerks and after about 1 1/2 hours I had heard enough bitching and took my $450+ win and went to the bar to do some serious beer drinking but on the way I passed my nephew and he said that said I should play some $40 max buy in NL. (that is his game and he does VERY well playing it) I chose to give it a try. Fifteen minutes latter he walked by my table and said: "WHERE THE HELL DID YOU GET ALL THOSE CHIPS?". There was an incident at the table that I did not like after about 25 minutes and I took my $490 in chips from the $40 buy in and went to the bar to do some serious beer drinking. On the way I passed some $20 NL tables and a floor person hustled me into one of the seats where I won the only 2 hands that I was dealt cards. I FINALLY MADE IT TO THE BAR. I had already had numerous beers and sat there and drank 5 or 6 more and then I had a GREAT idea (beer induced). I was going to play in ALL the levels offered below 15-30 just to see if I could beat all the games since I was ahead in all the games I had played so far. I was seated in a 4-8 game and won two hands before my blind came around and I moved to the 3-6 games after just a few minutes in the 4-8. The 3-6 was about the same and I won three pots in less than two rounds and I moved to the 2-4 game. This was a different story - THIS WAS A TOUGH GAME. They started out by running down my set of Queens after my pre flop raise on my 1st hand when the dealer flopped a queen but then put out two running diamonds. This put me in a hole with another beat that took me almost an hour to overcome. I thought I was done and had beaten all the games below 15-30 but alas - there was a $1-$2 game yet to be conquered. This was really some game - the tells were everywhere and the cards went dead but I was determined to beat this last game. I had patience, played my A game and a few cards finally came and after about 20 minutes I was $3 up. I told them what I had done and not a single person believed my story. I was drinking beer and probably looked and acted drunk but I was surprised how good of shaped I was in. I might have missed a game or two but I played 15-30 4-8 3-6 2-4 and 1-2 holdem -- NL buy ins of $100 - $40 and $20 and 6-12 Omaha. If I missed one I dont know what level I missed. It was mostly a fun evening (except the Omaha jerks game) and winning certainly made it more fun. Would this qualify as a reverse rampage? -- MINUS200 "Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, scotch in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

I can just imagine you getting up 3 bucks, letting out an evil laugh and taking off to the next game :) Doug
