I just got home from a weekend there. They now have 2 craps tables open, and there appears to be work being done in the area where the Poker Room was. I did see a sign that said "Hold Em, Roll Em, Spin Em" other games coming soon, but no date on them. It would appear that the poker room will be opening, I just don't know when. Yes, I was too lazy to ask someone. Z

When I spoke to the Tribal President's office last week, I was told that they expect the official opening of the Ho-Chunk Poker Room, as well as Let It Ride, Roulette and 3 Card Poker to be February 1st. Although the representative did say they may have a soft opening sooner, ie., Mid January (maybe). The above three games are the only other games they plan to offer at this time. As for DeJope in Madison, I was told that while the Federal Indian Gaming Act permits live Poker in a Class Two facility, the Wisconsin statutes do not and therefore, they do not have any plans to open a Poker Room in Madison. What will be interesting will be the effect, both economic and official, of the re-opening of this room on the local "underground" poker games/events in Southern Wisconsin, time will tell I guess.

Any idea where the Poker Room is going to be located inside Ho-Chunk? When they had poker a couple of years ago, it was in a very small room and the tables were packed in pretty tight. The Poker Room sign is still hanging there, and there was a barrier preventing entry, and that is where the work was being done. Al
