If you have unused Party Poker frequent player points, you might want to
redeem them. Party announced they are removing current merchandise within
the next few weeks.

Luckily, they expired all my points. Nothing to worry about...

Yeah, I saw that. Sent them this email:

Dear once largest poker site that pulled out of the US market and is now a
joke:

If I have any points, you can have them. There's no way in hell I would
ever play there, and I'm certainly not going to buy any merchandise to do
any free advertising for you! Here's hoping you go the way of PokerSpot.
Fuckers!

I think that's unfair to Party. They withdrew from the US market, but they
didn't keep your money. I'm unhappy they don't want my business (and
particularly unhappy that they don't want the business of all the US players
that made their games so soft), but that's business. It's far different
from a company accepting -- and seeking -- deposits that they know they
will not repay.

Ok bad analogy. I couldn't think of another site that shut down due to
lack of money, so I used pokerspot. It was meant as a joke, and not
another RGP nit discussion.

That's not entirely true. Many players left tiny amounts thinking they
couldn't cash them out. The web site withdrawal pages claimed you had
to have $1 or more for a withdrawal, but it turned out that if you wrote
to support they would do a manual withdrawal of less than $1.
Meanwhile, many other players had some amount more than $1 that they
didn't bother with, but Party has a bizarre policy, IMO totally
unjustified, of charging a fee to inactive accounts, so those accounts
left with small amounts eventually went down to zero. It might seem
like no big deal to each player, but when it's millions of players those
small amounts add up to a huge windfall for Party, of money that was
simply not theirs to take.

Well, you could use the points to get a fair number of books or something
that doesn't have their logo. That being said, if you don't know if you
have points, they've probably expired (although I believe if you email
them asking to have the points reinstated they usually will do it).

The rest of your post, about hoping they go the way of PokerSpot and all
that, I agree with 100%.

I don't understand why you would say that. PokerSpot cheated its players
out of tens of thousands of dollars they had in their accounts. Are you
saying you want Party Poker players to be cheated out of the money they have
in their accounts? If you are upset with Party Poker management, why take
it out on the players?

Of course that's not what I'm saying, Mike -- use your head.

I said that because Party's management and customer service is inept and
simply found themselves in the right place at the right time. Party's
success is the result of good luck and not good planning or strategy. I
would prefer to see sites that put some effort into their customer
relations have more success than Party.

There, is that specific enough?

all expected more backbone from the industry leader.

Thank you for posting this. Just cashed in the rest of my points.
Less Christmas presents to buy.
