Subject: Binions 2AM tourney report...

On Tuesday morning, I took a cab down to Binions Horseshoe for the late night
$70 + $40 rebuy.  Only 18 players in the field and they were nowhere near as
drunk as Tanya had suggested they may be.

Players were typically horrible with some being totally inexperienced (as in
never played before) and others thinking they were taking a shot at glory here.
I sat next to a total card rack who over-did the whole "weak means strong" tell
a number of times.  I got a little tired of the "I don't know what you have, but
I'm gonna gamble" while he held the nuts speech.

So, I can't connect with anything for a long time and I blow off my first
stack.  I rebuy and put my foot on the gas.  If I'm betting, I'm pushing until I
get over 2000 then I'll try a little more finesse.

I double up twice and am at 6000 when we go to the final table.

Enter the TWILIGHT ZONE

I'm two seats to the left of the chip leader.  He limps in, then calls a raise
out of middle position.  He moves in on the flop and is instantly called.  Then,
chip-leader stands up and triumphantly victory rips his flush draw.  The other
player tables AA and the pair holds up.  Idiot crippled... out a few minutes
later.

Fast forward to the end now.  We're three handed after I just won a coin flip to
eliminate the other short stack.  I hate being the shortstack and feeling like I
am the best player in the gam now.  Anyway...

With the blinds at 300-600 (48000 in play) the middle stack player offers up a
3-way even chop.  I have 9000 chips and the new leader looks stunned.  The kid
with all the chips has clearly never done this well before and barely had a grip
on what was happening at the poker table.  He just sat there stunned agreeing to
anything we said.

So, I took a small $300 win out of there AS FAST AS I COULD.  I'd like to thank
the middle stack for not counting the chips before making a deal and for taking
money directly from that other guy and handing it to me.

Good times... I'll play it again sometime.  Tip... register by 1:00 AM for bonus
chips.
