To steal the Idea back from Kinnipak, What is the best Bet you have ever made?

Don't know if this was smat or dumb but it worked

1st hand of a 8 person table at a bar game
AA UTG
I go all in
4 Callers JJ 77 22
Flop A89
Turn 2
River 3

1 hand and I had half the chips on the table. I won a T-Shirt that night. Wife
stole it the next day.

Best bet I ever made was the 2001 Fiesta Bowl - Oregon State 41, Notre
Dame 9.

I had some insider info as I was on a team that played both OSU and ND
that year in the reg season. I believe the spread was OSU -4

It was great, the OSU Beavers were getting 15 yard flags for
celebrating like they were going out of style. On top of winning a bet
it was a bonus to see ND get smoked

Best bet I ever made: KC Chiefs versus the Vikings in the Super Bowl. I
didn't get any points but the owner of the bar where we watched the
game gave me 50/1 cash odds and graciously held my two hundred bucks
until he turned around and cleaned out his till for me at the end of
the evening. Ten thousand dollars because I thought the line was silly,
bet KC for a few dollars and mentioned it to this guy. He said, of
course, "they might cover seventeen points but I will give one hundred
to one that they don't win." I had to settle for fifty to one because
he said he had been exaggerating a little. I got his entire take that
night and part of it for a few nights more. Gross, not net.

Not to be boring, but the Mansion no-risk promo bet for $1,000. I decided not
to hedge it for a guaranteed profit.

But my favorite poker bet in terms of successfully playing a read (as opposed
to donking off chips on the basis of delusional bullshit) was check-raising a
maniacal better with ace-king high after missing a draw in a big pot (capped
preflop five ways and on the flop and turn three ways) and driving out a solid
player also with ace-king, and getting a call from the original better with
king-high, thereby taking down a whole pot that should have been split.
I put the solid player on exactly AK and the maniac on a worse hand than
I had.

Too bad my reads aren't usually that good.

Backing Nick Faldo to win the 1987 Open Championship at Muirfield at 10 to
1, after two rounds.
The Mad Scot laid the odds; I ventured £2 and collected. The money was
small, but the satisfaction was immense.

Playing a four team parlay. Three out of four have come in. My last game
is the Vikings aagainst I don't remember who I have the under in the game
which was 44.

They put up 31 points in the first. And 10 more by the middle of the 2nd
Q. I figure I'm dead.

They won 41-0.

3 missed field goals in the second half.

Good times.

Speaking of Vikings...it was either 98 or 99 (98 I think). The year that
the Vikings went 15-1 or some ridiculous thing. I was working for a very
small consulting company (there were 5 of us). One of the owners was a
Vikings fan, the rest of us Packers fans, who by nature hate the Vikes.

He was bragging all year long about how the Vikings were going to the
super bowl, and how the Packers sucked, this and that, blah blah,
whatever. He hosted his pool's web site on one of our web servers, and
password protected it and changed most of the links to "packerssuck.com."
We sat there and could do nothing but take it, since the Vikes were a
great team that year.

He even went so far as to pay a whole bunch of extra money to get
construction on his basement rec-room done earlier so he could host the
"Vikings super bowl party."

Then came the playoffs. Vikings field goal kicker hadn't missed a single
kick in the regular season, but misses one that would have given them the
win either late in the game or in OT. I think they were playing the
Falcons who then kicked the game winner to end it. By the time I was able
to call him, which was a good 3 seconds after that, his line was so busy
from incoming calls that I was getting an "all circuits are busy" error.

Needless to say, we keylogged his password, got into the web site, and
changed all the links. They either went to this great picture of half of
the Vikings cheerleaders bawling their eyes out, or to another story,
which was priceless. A guy in Madison, WI either started up a bar, or
changed his bar to be a Vikings bar. He put so much money into planning
for a Vikings super bowl party that he had to close down his business when
they didn't go. Priceless.

Giants playoff game probably. I know a few people who had the over and
were absolutely giddy. Good times.

I did digging myself back to 1986 when I moved here and you are right. The
only 41-0 game was the giants. Must have been that game.

still was a great time sweating that one out.

While certainly possible....I can't remember two 41-0 vikings losses where
the teams failed in the 2nd half besides this one:

I'll keep digging though :-)

Playing 4/8 w/ Kill Omaha Hi only at Sunset Station in Vegas. Don't remember the
exact cards, but there were about 6 people in the hand after the flop, which
gave a possible str8, turn and river card brought 2 more str8 cards, for a total
wrap str8 out there, but also the runner runner flush.

It's one bet to me, with 1 caller ahead of me, I tap my fingers on the table and
move my lips as if counting out the straight and then raise. I actually get 4
players to call me with their straight, and I turn over the nut flush.

They all laughed and said that I could never do that again there, but that it
was a good move/bet.

I still get tickled by it.
