Do you really care about these stats? Do you check them often to gauge your play? Do you use it to impress people on PocketFives?

The tools that try to label or pigeon-hole players can be the least helpful. The free promo (forget the name) that's been touted here recently labeled me a "bomb" and said I needed discipline to become a shark. I know I was winning over the period looked at on PartyPoker (where it got it's data) but maybe I could have won more. I can easily imagine a situation where the author of the stat tool might think your stats should lie in a certain range, but the assumptions that went into deciding that are wrong. (I mean, I already knew I wuz da BOMB, but hey, the stat author wasn't trying to imply I was a good player.) Anyway, it is good to look at your pure stats, but you also have to be good at interpreting what they mean. Blindly saying that playing 21% of hands is too tight or that one should never limp (or whatever) is too cut-and-dried. What is the person's bottom line? What is the player's strategy? Why do they do what they do? What is it inducing other players to do? Is it profitable? Are the parts of a player's entire arsenal synergistic? I don't think stat tools are sophisticated enough to judge such things. I can imagine stats for two different players that would appear nearly identical percentage-wise regarding preflop play, but where one player's preflop play is totally readable to others who have played with him/her for awhile, while the other player essentially leaks no information. The software would say the two players are the same by the numbers, when in reality they are totally different. tvp

I like playing against people that use Sharkscope while they sit and think they have some sort of advantage over the table. I pray that Sharkscope labels me as a fish... _______________________________________________________________ Posted using RecPoker.com v2.2 - http://www.recpoker.com

I went through a week where I was checking my stats and trying to improve them. I like to play the 6-handed SNGs on stars. I lost 4 out of 4 one session each time with a big stack and a big hand that was out drawn. Set v. running flush. Flopped straight v. running full house. Bad luck/bad variance. I checked my stats and it said I was on tilt. Since then... I don't really care On Dec 5 2006 3:24 PM, Rubber Biscuit wrote: > Do you really care about these stats? I've been comparing my stats on sharkscope to my real stats the past month or so, and they've been accurate to the penny. Unfortunately. Including the last week of getting my ass brutally kicked to the point of dropping a level.

Is Avg ROI a statistic that should even be considered. I'm not where I can get to my pokertracker now, but I'm curious as to how far out of kilter it can get in comparison to ROI in the long run. I guess if you take several unsuccessful stabs at higher buy ins periodically then your overall ROI could show a negative but when in reality you're itm in almost every other sng that you play. SO would avg ROI be a good thing to look at to show you how you're doing most of the time?

I was just considering my $3 turbo sng's but I looked at it a little more and now see that it says my AVG buy in is $3. Since I play a lot more $3 turbos than any other sng, then I'll go out on a limb and say they might be somewhat accurate. I was thinking that they were showing me my $3 sng roi was only 8% when in fact I know that it is over 20%. If you add in those few larger ones that I've tried and the 180s and all the $1 5 tables then I could see that ROI coming down. I still love it when I'm in a $3 sng and I'm told that I suck and that when "you get to my level come back and see me" to which I respond, "um er, we are BOTH in a $3 SNG" ... All of this based off of them going to sharkscope and looking me up. I just love jackasses.
