By sucking out, do you mean "How do you play agianst a player that seems to suck out a lot"? I would not call that this particular players style. more like calling station. Once you identify a player that will call to any draw, you will notice him sucking out a lot more. Now how do you make money off of this type of player? A lot of that depends on position to the player, but the bottom line is, get into a lot of hands with him and don't try to make bank on every hand.If you can limp with your rags, do so. He may be hitting his draw on hands that you are over commiting chips on. If he hits second pair on the flop, he may go to the river before hitting his two pair. If the pot is very large, he can have you commited for 10 times the BB by then. Being a calling station, he may call half size pot bets before getting to the river. If you are heads up with a calling station, try 25% size bets to gain more info. You will minimize dammage and over the long run, you will get his money. Basically win 5 big bets off of him 5 times an hour. Jamie http://loadholdem.com ShuffletownKid wrote: > It's the one style I can't seem to beat.

Thanks, I was just bitching. Good info, but in tournament play you don't always have the luxury of knowing your opponent or be able to stay at a table with them.

That last comment is interesting. I hadn't thought of that but now that you said it, you are right. I know a guy that calls down big pots all the while saying "I think I am out kicked" only to find that their opponant was on a bluff. Come to think of it, he seems to be up a good bit this year. johnny T wrote: > Also... Just like there are successful maniacs, there *are* successful > calling stations. First, for many, many people catching and punishing bluffers is more entertaining and satisfying than making money. You will find more calling stations online than in the real world, for that reason alone. Secondly, for some, bluffing people is more entertaining and satisfying than making money. You will find more of these people online than in the real world. These people help make the mathematics of calling stations better, and beget more calling stations. Identify these people and play them appropriately. Do not get all pissed off that they make a draw against you. That is part of the math, and part of successful tourney play is how to manage the calling stations so that you profit, AND stay in the tournament. Unless you have the nuts there is risk that you will lose. Do the right thing... Also... Just like there are successful maniacs, there *are* successful calling stations. It requires a better understanding of the game, and knowing where NOT to play in order to get the math into your corner, but it is more than just possible, there are people doing it everyday.

If you are talking about limit HE, Abdul-Jalib has, or at least had, a very good online article about draws and outs. It was called something lke "the art of sucking out" but it wasn't about getting your money in bad and then getting lucky. It was about playing draws properly in LHE. It is here, http://ftrain.blogspot.com/2006/05/abduls-theory-of-sucking-out.html, among other places on the net. It doesn't cover how to hit runner-runner for a flush after getting all-in with your Aces against a flopped set but it is an excellent article. Will in New Haven

If you play online, you could use a different screen name for playing and your real name on UseNet. In live play, I have only played against people who read my online advice AND could connect me with it when I have attended FARGO and in some sattelites and tournaments at Foxwoods. I don't think it gave them any edge. Arlo was harsh with you but your original post WAS annoying. I think you should read anything you find on here that he writes, even though he hurt your feelings. I certainly do. Will in New Haven -- "All around me darkness gathers, fading is the sun that shone, we must speak of other matters, you can be me when I'm gone..." - SANDMAN #67, Neil Gaiman
