Why do women these days feel the need to mutilate themselves with cheap tattoos?
Nothing can ruin a beautiful girls looks as fast as a crappy paint job.

I have been wondering the same thing the past couple of years.

It seems these "Tramp Stamps" are becoming very popular and a fad that
doesn't seem to go away.

It is as bad as the guys who are putting Chinese symbols on their body.
Another fad? I keep thinking that the guy placing the tattoo on the
customer, is selling it as "This is the symbol for brave.". Or some other
self centered word/phrase. But in actuality, it might mean the guy is gay,
weak, or some other word that is not what the customer would put on his body
if he knew the true meaning.

Tribe bands are also popular. These people putting them on their bodies
don't even belong to the tribe so why adorn your body with it?

Tramp Stamps, Chinese symbols, tribe arm bands, and tribe symbols; have
taken the place of the old tattoos of yesteryear. No more hula girls on
your father's arm that he got in the navy. Tattoos now are some form of
self expression of how much of a tramp or self centered person one can be.

The 'artitistic' part of tattooing is gone.

False.

However, artistic tattoos have always been only a very small
percentage of the total number of tattoos done. I actually
think that there are more artistic ones as a percentage now
than there were 30 years ago. Back then, you'd never see
work like this:

Some of those are REALLY good. However, most of the newer tat's I'm seeing
today are the "thong toppers" names on the neck, "prison-type" homemade
crap. I guess I see more young people than mature people with them.

I don't have any tatoos. I thought about it when I was younger, but I
have an aversion to pain. I do like the way some of them look, but some
are plain ugly. The ones in the link are beauties. I guess I don't see
why someone would have a tatoo they themselves could not see. Always
seemed illogical to me.

One advantage of it is that you get surprised by it from time to

Yes, I've noticed that he's in every thread about Annie Duke. He never
misses a chance to bash her. It reminds me that he also takes every
chance to bash gays, whenever there's a thread about that subject.
It's interesting to see his choice of obsessions.

Although he makes every effort to present himself as a balanced,
together person who is a disciplined poker player and solid citizen who
"retired from a Fortune 500 company," his posts reveal much more about
him than he'd ever reveal willingly, and are much more unflattering
than he ever intended them to be. I wonder what a mental health
professional would make of him based on his posts? Anybody here know?

Well thanks so much Babs Gallamore. It's always helpful to get an
unsolicited psychological analysis from an alcoholic. You don't need to
bother responding. Since I killed filed you long ago I never see your
hateful rants and personal attacks unless some one else includes it in their
post.

As for Annie Duke - all I've said is that the poor girl is in desperate need
of a total make over. Which, based on the comments from others in this
newsgroup, appears to be a widely held opinion.

Where did I express any hate? You don't get sarcasm too well either do you,
bucko?

Given your responses I just naturally assumed you were the type who
criticized everyone for their looks. Or is it just Annie Duke?

I try to judge a person's worth based on their character, not their looks.
However, in my opinion, and that of a great many others, Annie Duke could
benefit from a make-over. I didn't disparage her character or criticize her
talent. If you've got a problem with that bucko, it's entirely your own.

So why do you go on and on about her looks then say you won't post a pic of
yourself because you're not "famous"? Who gives a fuck? Come on you
fucking hypocrite. Post your picture so we can all have a good laugh.

If you are so obsessed with men's pictures, why don't you post your own?
And speaking of "fucking hypocrites", clean up your own act before you start
trying to dictate what other people should do.

Does anyone else get the impression that Irish Mike's obsession with
Annie Duke is getting out of hand? He is crossing the line to becoming
a celebrity stalker and a sign of mental illness on Mike's part, and
hopefully he will seek professional help before it's too late.

ha... With a name like georgewvandalism you've got no right to talk about
obsession or stalking..

No chance of this happening. The only person she'll ever pay attention

This post is a perfect example of what I mean. He calls me an
"alcoholic" because I've been open about my past when trying to be of
help to people here on rgp who've talked about their drug and alcohol
problems, since I've been clean and sober for over 18 years.

Most of his posts consist of criticism of other people with different
political beliefs; sexual orientations; or those who, like Gary Carson
and myself for instance, point out his shortcomings and hypocricies to
him.

In fact, "Irish Mike" is one of the few times I have personally
criticized anyone here. It's just that he's such a pompass ass I can't
resist.

I agree. That string of barbed wire a 20 something girl has tattooed on her
arm will look like a picket fence when she's 40 something.

Modern tattoos fade and blur less than they used to.

Still, some of us specifically design our tattoos in such
a way that they'll still look good if they stretch, blur,
or spread. The rainbow clouds on my ankle, for instance,
started out as big blobs of color and are quite happy to
alter their shape and still look good.

Some so called artists make 'art'  from what they find in a trash can. But it's
still just trash. On women tattoos are trashy no matter the penmanship.

at least that is what she told a TV reporter during the WSOP when she was

No, it says "How can I say yes if nobody asked" (or asks). I think it
means she's easy so if you want some, ask her.

As did I. I'm of the Danny N view of Annie -- I think she's a
self-absorbed, hypocritical witch without an ounce of class. But I
kinda do like the tattoo.

Tatoos usually mean one of two things:

1) For men it is easily translated "Puleeeaaaasseeee look at me!"
2) For women, it should just be an arrow saying "Insert here, please."

So, it would be ok if it were a good paint job? How much do you want
her to spend? Does she need to go on Miami Ink before it will be ok?
Just questions, no intent to excite the flame is expressed or
implied....
