Do most people just do the rebuy right up front to be on an equal playing field, or do people play a level or 2 before rebuying? I guessing right up front, but if someone goes all in with bottom pair against your set and then hit runner-runner to bust you early, it sure would be nice to have the rebuy waiting. Of course, if your hand holds up like its supposed too, it would be nice to get ALL their chips, instead of just the 1500 or so initial buyin. Any advice is appreciated, usually have only played freezeouts, but have read so many good things about the structures of these tournaments. Thanks.

A few times I have been fortunate enough to get someone who did this as well to double me. I don't see any point in waiting. I want to be able to ge as many chips in the pot against a bad player as I can. On a side note. I played the Coast Casinos freeroll at the Orleans last week. This was the first time I had played there and the tournament structure, which they use on all NLHE events, was a lot better than the Sahara.

Although I don't remember the exact structure, I've played at the Sahara tournament many times. If I remember correctly the new tournament structure, $42 buy-in gives one 3000T and a $20 add-on gets an additional 2000T. About 140 people play. The blinds increase every twenty minutes: 25/25, 25/50, 50/100, 100/200...then quickly accelerate from there. Although most people eventually get the add-on, I'd estimate that fewer than a third get their add-on at the start of the tournament. Since the add-on must be done before the end of the first hour, one gets add additional 2000T chips before the start of the blinds at 100/200 (M >6). The Sahara tournament is a mixture of novice tourists, wannabes, and some savvy locals and regulars. Having a larger stack initially does not seem to slow down many of the loose idiots who play these low buy-in tournaments. Over-betting the pot with your flopped set won't cause a fold by someone on a draw or even with TPTK. There seems to be no understanding of pot odds at this level of play. Although this is one of the best low buy-in tournaments, expect your bad beats by idiots who crack your AA by calling your 3XBB open-bet with K2 "because they were suited." Lately, I've been getting my add-on when my M is less than ten or at the end of the first hour. Having a large stack against a good player is very powerful weapon. Having a large stack against an idiot is meaningless. May you NEVER "seven-out," ...*guy... _______________________________________________________________ New Feature: Mark All As Read! - http://www.recpoker.com
