I pretend to be a decent HE player. In this, I'd been playing tight, and
two hands earlier had raised to 3x preflop, got one caller - missed the
flop, but bet out, dude folded. So when I get the AA I do the same thing
and hope someone is annoyed. Got two callers, and the nightmare scenario
on the flop. I think I had to bet, and then, pot committed, had to call -
but is that just hot air?

Against one player I bet.  Against two, I think I just check.  That's a pretty
awful flop.

> BronzeDodger bets 500

At the very least, I don't bet this much.  The pot's only 540.  If you want to
bet, bet 300 and fold if you get raised.

Once you make the bet of 500, yeah, you have to call.

Tough spot on the first hand. Not much else you can do except checkraise.
Stacks are not deep enough to get away from aces on this flop. My line,
however, might be to bet 200 on the flop, with the intention of jamming a
safe turn, but if I get raised on the flop, I'm going with it.

It depends on how you look at it. If you see the flop and immediately
think you're beat and have to get away, then bet less on the flop, like
300 or so, and fold when he jams. I play $5 SNGs a few times a week with
a friend, and I very rarely fold AA at all, so I probably just pot it and
call the allin the same way you did.

If you want them to look like you're steaming, just jam here. Betting
almost half your stack on a barely over min re-raise doesn't make much
sense, since you're moving in on any flop, so just shove it in pre-flop.
Yes, it was just bad luck you got out drawn here.

This is backward thinking.  If you always think you're beat on a flop like that
then you're setting yourself up to get run over.  Why would you assume you're
beat?  The chance the other guy just happens to have AQ is not very good.  If he
was KJ, KT, JT then so be it.   A raise here is just as likely to mean KQ or AK.

Go back and re-read what I wrote there, sparky. I know reading
comprehension isn't your thing, but give it a try and see what happens.

I swear I didn't read this before I gave my practically identical advice.

Agreed. Jamming looks much more like tilt than small reraises.

Hah, thank you! Especially since if we have to pull punches, I'm much
closer to playing poker professionally than Fell is at this particular

Just 'cause you're a better poker player than the missus is no reason to
pick on Fell because he's in the reverse situation.
