This is unforgivably late. I apologize: Final results: 1 Ohio State Henchmen 134 2 Rampage 126 3 Bluth Company 119 4 hankthecrank 117 5 FellKnight 108 6 BroadwayBrett 84 7 GoBlue! 73 8 k9way 65 9 didiwinyet 0 That isn't quite right as K9 and Fell are due some adjustment points... since it wasn't close to enough to challenge the overall winner, I'm not going to go into the archives to figure their due, but I'm sure I ended up in last. Reposted from our groups message board: Henchmen - Great win... Fellnight and Doggy, even with the adjustment cuz of the week one stuff, no effect on the final outcome (at least in terms of the winner) Hey, Henchmen - as much as it pains me to Kudos a OSU dewd, nice picking - if you haven't already, send me an email to this account: xxxxx (real email is on the Yahoo Groups message board) with a shipping address, and I'll drop something in the mail. Also, help me out a bit with what, exactly, to drop; a couple questions: You a drinker? If so, wine, beer, or the hard stuff? If you like that kinda thing, be specific (what kind of wine, what kind of hard stuff). You a smoker (cigars)? If so, what are your favs? You a reader? Again, give me some "hints", and I'll try to find an appropriate surprise! Or anything along those lines... you a gamer? If so, any game you've had your eye on? What system? Anyhow, congratulations! I hope to put something similar together next year, although I'm thinking of just putting together a webapp of some sort: we can all start out with some amount of money, and bet what we'd like on the different games from each week... biggest roll at the end wins! Thanks everyone for participating! I know I wasn't the best commish of all times, har har, but please bear in mind that I've had a lot on my plate this season... the hurricane and two week loss of power was nothing compared to my wife's first pregnancy! Cheers! GG! __________________________________________________________________ Anyhow, like I said, it's late and I apologize. Henchmen, you tOSU swine, you'll get yer due! Har har, just kidding, I promise something nice! Cheers.

FellKnight, my dear, dear friend, there was this time, oh, 1/8/2009 9:54 AM or thereabouts, when you let the following craziness loose on Usenet: > On Jan 8 2009 10:52 AM, John_Brian_K wrote: > >>> Anyhow, like I said, it's late and I apologize. Be Considerate! > > ---- > : the next generation of web-newsreaders : http://www.recgroups.com > Hey, in all seriousness, if we think we can get a decent group together for next year, let's do it! What I'm wondering... I think it might have been you that brought this up Fell, but wouldn't it be cool if we used a system where we each started with a bankroll, and picked which games each week we bet on? Biggest roll at the end wins? I mean, that's the rough idea. There may be some problems that I haven't thought of... for instance, I guess it would suck to be the guy that loses his roll that first week... hmmm, I imagine we could address that somehow. Perhaps something like this already exists... I guess it would, is there play-Sports wagering sites like there are play-Poker sites? Or we could just stick with what we used this year? Or maybe we can just address this in August, lol. After tonight, we enter the dark times for me... eight months of no college football. Arghhh. Well, at least there's hockey! Cheers.

Perhaps something like this already exists... I guess it > would, is there play-Sports wagering sites like there are play-Poker sites? I don't know. I think moola.com has some sort of play money sports-wagering, but am not sure. If someone loses his roll the first week, that's his damn problem (though I suggested a roll of 100 units with a bet size of 1-5 units possible). The biggest flaw of this year's system was the fact that you were forced to bet on every event. The potential flaws I see are in the hail marys coming at the end of the year (though the max bet sizes would minimize this), finding an agreed site which we would use for lines, and having certain minimum and maximum number of bets a week or a season. We don't want a case where the winner is the one who doesn't make any bets all season, or who has a good week 1 and then stops. :) > Or we could just stick with what we used this year? > > Or maybe we can just address this in August, lol.
