Yeah, it has a little different texture than the nosebleed level where you
play. I had to finish better than 33rd to move up the list and in playing
this tourney for a year trying to catch up from the bottom 10% is unlikely.
Next year I'll ask you and Xaq for coaching, not :)

I'm under half the avg stack in these low level tournaments, any time
someone does not play their hand I want in. Had a short stack double up on
the hook and the river beat it, next.

I would question whether you're giving far too much importance to your
stack size relative to the average. From what you say, you appear to be of
the view that you are in a position where you are pretty much forced to
make a move, hence the questionable play. IMVHO, you still have plenty of
play left - you have 3000 chips and the blinds are 25/50. That's an 'M' of
40 in Harrington parlance and far from push and pray time.

If you do tend to base your play around where you stand compared to the
average stack it might be worth considering whether that is a hole in your
game. obviously I can only go on what you've written in this thread but it
looks that way to me. I'm no better or worse a player than you so don't
take this as a holier-than-thou post, I'm just trying to give some
positive criticism that might be of some benefit.

As to the specifics of the hand itself, I would not have limped in early
with KJ (suited or not) simply because my stack size is too small for that
kind of play. It's a fair hand for deep stacks and one I might sometimes
even raise with if they're deep enough, but here I simply can't afford to
bleed the chips on an OOP drawing hand. I have to assume a high likelihood
of a preflop raise - either one that is so large I'm forced to fold, or a
standarish raise that is going to see me speculate 10% of my stack to see
the flop. I can see that the Q on the turn put you in a difficult position
making it hard to fold but I don't understand how you got there as the
flop would have been the end of the hand for me.

interesting.

I thought about this overnight and played a sit and go focusing on playing
more opportunistically than I had been, with good result. Morphy's
comments, yours and Fell's about not playing this hand from EP with this
stack size, etc. lead me to the conclusion that my play was precisely
correct. The reaction of the player, pushing in with a %20 expectation
against my made hand was all I could hope for. The only thing I did wrong
was get unlucky, tough break me, next :)

lolol. You play a crap hand in EP, call a raise with it, then call with a
gutshot draw on a paired flop and think that your play was correct? No
wonder you morons can't finish higher than 2500 out of 5000 and that JBK
has the highest finish of anyone in your little league there.

Only thing you did wrong was get your money in bad preflop and on the
flop, get lucky beyond your wildest dreams on the turn, and then lose
anyway, which is what SHOULD have happened over 90% of the time.

So wait...you don't play crap hands from crap position when you have a
stack, but when you have a "short stack" (2990 chips with blinds 25/50 in
this case) you go out of your way to play crap hands from crap position,
call raises with it, and call with gutshot draws?
