I'm trying to achieve a count of RGPers who have achieved this. This is
a pittance of an accomplishment, but if the responses are honest, I bet
there are very few.

And don't respond if you "think" you have profited this much. Only
respond if you actually keep records and know EXACTLY how much you are
ahead at poker. You don't have to reveal the amount, but only respond
if you have a figure that you know is a fact, and you know it is over
$10,000.00.

Consider me on this list. Because I am.

Why is 10 K so special? Some of us has lost or won 8K in a single hand.
Note that I didnt say raking in a pot of 8K, but actually winning or
losing 8K in a single hand.

10K over a lifetime of poker? I piss at the figure.

Not exactly.

If you're in the US, the IRS *should* be involved in every
single session. Most gamblers don't report their wins and
losses properly, But last night when you played poker with
your buddies and won $17 was a taxable event.

With a single cash transaction of $10,000 or more, there
must be a Currency Transaction Report. The CTR isn't for
the IRS, really. Google Bank Secrecy Act for more info.

I'm sitting in McCarran right now, on my way home. I have
a W-2G in my pocket thanks to a single $4000 win. The threshold
for reporting some gambling wins to the IRS is $1200.

Do you work for the IRS by any chance?

No matter. I've been playing poker for about ten years, I track every
session on my computer, and my net profit to date is well over $10,000.

Ok, I'm responding. What do you want to know? I kept spreadsheets of
games/rooms/limits/tokes/days of the week/tourneys/session /win or loss/food
and travel expenses/room expenses/ misc expenses for a number of years, I
also kept a separate spreadsheet with the same type of info for "other
gaming" and had to file taxes with the information one year to offset some
HUGE scores at the Mobile, AL dog track and hitting a $77k keno win.

Sklansky's test is whether you earn 50k or more per year or not. I haven't

I'm close. The home game I play (over the last 18 months) is good for $1K
plus a year and I've generally made $1-$2K online since 2003. I won $3 in
my kitchen last Saturday as our xmas party was winding down.

Requiring that you've kept exact records of all poker activity for a
lifetime is not a low threshold.

I once one a $50 IOU in a shipboard payday stakes game. I collected $20
biweekly juice for about 9 months and when I got out of the Navy he still
owed me $50 and I retired the debt.

Is that a win?

Most people who frequent a poker newsgroup and discuss the game should
easily be winning players. Not sure what 95% of the people that post here
excuse is.

You've tried this troll at least 3 times and failed miserably in all
attempts. I'm not really in the mood for fetch today so you'll have to go
find someone else to walk you and clean up after you.

That guy has a really weird screen name. What is an 'ikabopo' anyway? Does
it mean something?

It sounds really dumb. Don't you agree, uhh, XaQ Morphy?

I'm sure it does to someone.

Hey I get it! Actually the XaQ Morphy name will be celebrating its 20th
birthday this year. I came up with it when I was 16 (those of you on the
math side of poker should be able to use this vital info to deduce my age)
when a friend of mine and I were starting a band and of course needed
stage names.

So umm, there it is. Not as impressive as the Popinjay title obviously,
but impressive to me at least.
