Ill. governor meeting with Obama today

CHICAGO, ILL. -- Now that Barack Obama will be moving to the White
House, his seat in the U.S. Senate representing Illinois will have to
be filled.
That's one of Obama's first priorities today.
He's meeting with Governor Rod Blagojevich this afternoon in Chicago
to discuss it.
Illinois law states that the governor chooses that replacement.
There's already been speculation about his selection...from
Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. of Chicago's south side who co-chaired
Obama's presidential campaign, to recently-retired state senate
president Emil Jones, to the governor himself.
It's likely the governor will make his decision quickly so the new
senator will get some seniority before newly-elected senators take
office in January.
Part of the timing depends on when Obama officially vacates his senate
seat.
KHQA's Alexis Hunt is speaking with Illinois Senator John Sullivan
today about his thoughts on that replacement process, his time working
with Obama in the state senate, and if there's a chance Sullivan might
play a role in the Obama administration. Watch KHQA News at 5:00, 6:00
and 10:00 p.m. tonight to hear what he has to say.

The original story only said that Obama was planning to meet with
Blagojevic on Nov. 5th, the day after the election. The story ran at
10:39 am and described a meeting which was supposed to happen later
that day, It may seem unlikely that Obama would schedule a meeting
and then cancel it, but it IS possible. It is even possible that the
information in the original story was untrue: perhaps Ms Sowers was
misinformed when she implied that a meeting would take place. I know
it seems almost inconceivable that Ms Sowers could have written an
incorrect story, but it is NOT entirely impossible.
Similarly, it may seem unlikely--- but it was POSSIBLE--- that his
mother stayed in Hawaii during the months before she gave birth to him
in August 1961.

Sorry Toad Boui, you repugs held power for 6 of eight years and you
have held the presidency for all eight. So why did your president
order our troops into Iraq for no known reason.
See, you losers destroyed our foreign policy and our domestic

Like most liberals you ignore that fact that the majority of Democrats were
in favor of the Iraq war and voted for it.
As to the economy, I'm afraid your Democrat pals, and their entitlement
loans to buy votes policies, need to accept responsibility for a large part

The story doesn't describe anything that actually happened, either.
Obama may have planned to meet with the Governor but never did it. It
was based on a press release from the Governor's office, and may have
been issued to provide some cover for what Gov B was actually trying
to do. One thing has been confirmed, the Gov hated Obama. He spoke of
him in obscenities. The Pugs are grasping at straws here, trying make
something of nothing. Gov B is a crook. So was George Ryan, his
predecessor, who is a Republican and is currently in prison. Illinois
politics is rough and corrupt at the city and state level. None of
that means that Obama has ever been compromised or corrupted.
Fitzgerald made it very clear that none of this should rub off on the
president-elect. The Pugs have been gleefully salivating over the
event, however, hoping against hope that something will stick to
Obama. They are pathetic when act this way.

That's true. But as I said in another thread, the real problem here
is that the Obama camp is making conflicting statements. First they
said he did, and then they said he didn't. When people do that, they
are either incompetent, or (at some point) lying when they think they
need to lie.
A moment of goofballness can be forgiven. But if it's inherent in the
kinds of people they are, then we will continue to see this pattern,
just as we did for 8 years of Clinton (didn't inhale, didn't have sex
with that woman, depends on what the meaning of the word "is" is) and
so on.
Time will tell.
