A letter from my sister. She lives fulltime at the family ranch in the White Mountains. Start letter: Hi, it has snowed all day and Chris and Gene decided to cut wood as we were almost out and Chris was in the same boat. They never want to cut when the weather is NICE. I don’t know of a winter that Gene hasn’t gone out in a storm to cut…. It has been so cold yesterday and today, can’t seem to get the house warm. I’m trying to keep busy to build up some heat. Still do not have our tree up but will do it before Saturday as that is when Tolly and family will be getting here. I need to go into town tomorrow so hope the roads are better than now. You can hardly see the end of arena right now. Think I’ll go put some water on for Hot Choc. I’m going to get busy again so will write later. Love you, Pee End Letter It just goes to show some people have the correct idea about how to live their life. -------- * kill-files, watch-lists, favorites, and more.. www.recgroups.com

Every year in July our whole family would take a trailer in tow and head up to that area, past the Mogollon Rim, usually somewhere around Big Lake or the Little Colorado River areas, and a couple times to the Greer Lakes. There was a place there, are you ready for this, named Maverick that would have the coldest temperatures in the US on quite a few occasions. One time when I was 12 or so, we were at Big Lake and I was trying to fly fish from the shore. A few times it would get caught up in a tree branch but usually the fly itself would get waterlogged and I'd whip it to and fro to get it dry. It was while doing this that the fly's hook dug itself into my middle finger. Had to go all the way to Heber to find a doctor. He couldn't just pull it out because of the barb so he deadened it so he could push it through. I still remember that needle going in a full half an inch and coming out the tip just below the nail with the needle spurting out fluid. I never really did much fly fishing after that. Gary (...)
