That was good. I haven't thought about that song in a long time.

It was a simplier time when you waited for the next episode of Bonanza,
Gunsmoke, Paladin, Rifleman, etc.

From out of the East a stranger came, a law book in his hand, a man.
The kind of man the West would need to tame a troubled land.
But, the point of the gun was the only law Liberty understood. When it
came to shooting straight and fast, the lawbook was no good.

I don't know about the song, but that very well may be my favorite movie
of all time...it is top 5 at the very least.

I like that song and other songs by Gene Pitney partly because of their
quirkiness:

and partly because of his unique vocalizations:

I have a copy of Liberty Valance the movie and High Noon, too. I think I
have a copy of the original '3:10 To Yuma' and the remake.

Lee Marvin was great in westerns. I saw "Pocket Money" for the first
time a few weeks ago. It's a "modern day" western with Paul Newman,
Strother Martin, and Wayne Rogers, but Lee Marvin pretty much carried
the movie.

I kind of like that, too. I was near downtown yesterday so I had lunch at
Mamacita's, a Cuban-Mexican restaurant on the other side of Fremont from
the El Cortez. They have a widescreen that they usually play Latin music
DVDs' on but this time they had an oldies disco DVD. I still like to
listen to it.
