Biden said recently, regarding the stimulus package that "If we do everything right, if we do it with absolute certainty, if we stand up there and we really make the tough decisions, there's still a 30 percent chance we're going to get it wrong." As reporters started giggling, Obama came close to conceding that Biden was indeed a joke. "You know, I don't remember exactly what Joe was referring to, not surprisingly." LOL he makes Quayle look like a genius. Now here come the replies says Good Ole Joe, he was just being upfront with the American people etc.

I'm with Joe on this one ... but if he doesn't keep his mouth shut ... he'd better hope a lot of foreign leaders die ... because without those funerals to attend ... Obama won't give him shit to do ...

Seems to me he was referring to the specific statement that was being discussed at the time, which you have no non-prejudicial reason to believe wasn't made in all honesty. So why does Biden's statement threaten you to the point where you have to jump into this? And what political gain do think Biden was trying to achieve if he was lying? Fine, Jim,, I'll help you out. No one knows whether Biden was lying or not. There is no reason to think he was lying. There is no possible political gain to come from what he actually said. He's just saying that if they do everything which at the moment looks like the correct things to do, they could still fail. It's just an acknowledgement of risk (eve if awkwardly phrased). BFD. The statement certainly is not an indication that Biden is a moron, as was posited by the OP who used the statement to support such an assertion.

I think that his problem is that he has a direct-drive mouth. No clutch or transmission between his brain and his mouth. Whatever thought pops into his brain gets transmitted directly to his mouth. This gaffe wasn't nearly as moronic as a couple of statements he blurted out during the campaign. He said that FDR went on TV to reassure the public after the '29 market crash. He also said that the US and UK had driven Hesbollah out of Lebanon. Now, those statements were truly stupid. He will be fun to watch over the next few years.

I was reacting to Orange's assertion that this statement was an indication of "honesty." Do you honestly think that this statement demonstrates "honesty?" I also take a little issue with your defense of the awkwardly phrased "just" an acknowledgement of risk ... 30%? Where the heck did that come from? Thirty percent? That is just stupid ... not moronic, just stupid. Biden could say, we are doing our best and our best may or may not work ... but he chooses to say we are 70% sure our way will work. Stupid. The whole convolved and "awkward" collection of words delivers the idea that he did not think much about what he was talking about at all. This is not the first "awkwardly phrased" bit of nonsense from the Vice President. I agree that it is not a BFD. It was just stupid. No BD.
