The last big snow in Vegas was, I think, in '78 or '79. It stayed on the
ground for at least a couple of days. I remember driving a VW convertible
just past the Spaghetti Bowl and onto the tilted off ramp to Casino
Center. The car lost traction and slid sideways to the curb. So now I'm
in Dubuque where it is -1 with a wind chill of -20. Wtf have I got myself
into? Never had a snow shovel until a two years ago.

8 FUCKING inches of that shit here in the foothills east of Seattle over the
last two days, and it ain't getting above freezing for days. And of course
we don't salt the roads because of the BLEEDIN' salmon, and of course no one
here has any FUCKING idea how to drive on snow (having spent 35 years in MN,
this is a major frustration for me), and no, my house isn't weatherstripped
and yes, my furnace is underpowered for these temperatures...
At least the power and cable are intact this year. Last Xmas we had an ice
storm and the power was out for 8 days.

Rained hard in Los Angeles (still is). I went to work in Pasadena and
the parking lot was empty. Half the building called off, flipped out
about having rain. My fanatical OCD director who shows up every day
except Christmas elected to telecommute.
And me, I spent the afternoon daydreaming and eating free food from
meetings where nobody showed up. What a beautiful thing.
I love LA.

We lived in Minnesota for a bunch of years and I lived in Alaska, so I know
snow, I HATE SNOW and this afternoon there was at least 5 inches on the top
of the car we leave in the driveway, AND the wind was blowing pretty well
too. Peg and Rick were able to take Charlie to the end of the block (Deer
Springs actually) where they've cleared some land but left large mounds of
dirt and dg and it was covered with enough snow that Charlie could use his
plastic sled and ave a blast. Tomorrow they're going back up to Lee Canyon,
and with the overnight temp it should have a good foot or more in the
sledding area that had barely a couple of inches yesterday.

Well, this confirms two things:
1. George Bush is responsible for the snow.
2. We must contact lard ass Al to fly in on his jet and tell us how this
confirms that global warming is the most important issue in America and the

How weird. We aren't that much higher in Elevation from the strip and we
can (not today because of the snow) see downtown, the strip and beyond out
of our back window.. We near N., Durango and Deer Springs, just norith of
the 215 Beltway...STILL snowing here.

The edges of the valley are about 700' higher and they can be about six
degrees cooler.
