Subject: Giving Notice to the RGP Old Guard
|
Attention all members of the Old Guard listed below. In these trying times RGP needs to look within and make tough decisions that benefit RGP as a whole. This economic crisis that our country faces directly affects RGP and serves to drive some of these decisions. Believe me when I say that some of these decisions were not easy, but we believe these moves will help stabilize RGP to survive the potentially dire situations before us. We are giving termination notices to the following members of the so- called RGP Old Guard, listed below in no particular order: Russ G - this one should be obvious. Russ has been ruining RGP for years. We are all familiar with how google groups and searches work. If we want to look up a post dated 2001 about cheating in poker in 1968 we can do it ourselves. hanks - this one should be obvious Robert Ladd - Robert was an old time RGPer who vanished for several years, only to show up suddenly when Russ sent him a copy of his book. Since then Robert has been filling RGP up with all sorts of drivel. Time to go Robert. Please note that if Russ writes a second book and begs you to write a review of it that you should find somewhere other than RGP to post this. Susan - there's still debate over whether Susan is a real person. Whatever the case may be, although RGP may miss the occasional well timed "tee hee", umm, nevermind, just go. Irish Mike - Irish Mike was a tough choice. He will be best known to me personally as writing the best piece of poker advice I've ever read. But, his whining about people posting hand histories followed by his all out insane political posts have landed him right on this list. Peg Smith - Peg my dear, you once proposed to our valued member XaQ Morphy but then went on a semi insane rant defending Robert Ladd. Sorry dear! Arlo - Ahh Arlo. What's there to say? RGP obviously isn't good enough for you based on your continued bragging and ego-driven rants about nothing. This should have been done after you posted the nonsense about folding AA preflop in a cash game, but better late than never. Time to move on. DaVoice - go find somewhere else to beg for money please. RazzO - I don't have much to say about RazzO other than he clearly belongs in this list. Keiser - Dave and all 47 different names he posts under: please take your capslock key with you and find somewhere else to go. Patti Beadles - this may strike some as odd, because I feel Patti has one of the best poker minds on RGP. However, she doesn't post about poker anymore. Instead she whines about how google has ruined usenet and posts elitest nonsense posts about using 40 year old newsreaders and how powerful her killfile is. Gary Carson - Carson used to post quizzical sarcasm in an attempt to get the reader to think about their actions and questions to dig deep within for the answers. There was a certian mysticism about Gary. Was Gary a poker superstar in disguise, or just another nutcase with a keyboard? RGP has since learned that Gary is just a broke loser with no friends, no life, and no money to pay for his grilled cheee sandwich. RGP Old Guard, your time here has been well noted. We have taken into account your time served and past contributions. Therefore in lieu of immediate termination we are giving you 2 weeks. Please pack up your things, clean out your areas, and say goodbye to those you wish to. Please do not force us to have security escort you to the door. This creates a very uncomfortable situation for all. We're sure we've missed a few people along the way here, so I'm asking members of RGP's NEW Guard to submit requests to be added. We'll have to work closely with HR, but I'm sure we can make something happen. I do want to say that two people deserve special mention as to why they did not make this list: doggystyle/K9way/FangBanger - doggy is many things, and in many ways worse than almost everyone above. However, he's only been posting to RGP for 2 years or so, which doesn't necessarily make him Old Guard. In addition, he's so easy to get going that watching him chase his tail for an entire afternoon is something we don't want to give up. Igotskillz - on the surface it seems like this spamming, ponzi scheming, conspiracy theorist welcher has no business on RGP. But as some of us found out years ago, you can't killfile someone like Igotskillz. The potential for something really great to come from him is right around the corner. Please join me in wishing those terminated good luck in their endeavors as we rush RGP into its new era. Long live the RGP New Guard! Signed, RGP New Guard

There was an opinion piece by some quasi big-name poker guy, old-timer, whose heyday was in the 70s/80s. Can't remember his name now. But in the editorial he wrote... was talking about the importance of poker forums and that he used to be a poster on the original: RGP. My eyebrows perked up a little there -- and he went on to say that it had basically descended into Usenet hell... along with all the other Usenet groups. Interesting. I think there's good info on 2+2 and P5s, but they're a bit sanitized. At worst - it's redundant with large groups stroking each other off and towing the party line. At best, there's some thoughtful and provocative strategic discussions. But the singular beautiful thing about RGP is the Old Guard. These odd colorful characters that don't give a shit and tell it as they see it. Kind of like the 'Kelly's Heroes' of the poker forums. No Old Guard means this place would be a hell of a lot duller (and I probably wouldn't lurk here). .02 Ps. That is in no way an endorsement of the rabid and insane views posted here.

And if one were to generalize and pick a "group" of people who are most responsible for it becoming a "usenet hell", who do you think that would be? The NEW GUARD! That's who. I'm dead serious here, and anyone with a clue will agree with me. It's the children. The pimple poppers. The snot-nosed, ill-mannered, incessantly annoying chatter boxes, that think they know it all already. The original poster of this thread is a prime example, and I guarantee you he was never spanked as a child. They talk back, and will not listen. If they were smart they would listen to their elders and realize they can learn from the Old Guard. You know how the saying goes. Youth is wasted on the young. -PP

I misread the end of the post. Take off Patti and put Doggystyle on the list. Since that POS won't bet me the $500 2-to-1 when he's somehow getting 3-to-1 on his money, he has no business here. Sorry I'm really arloing (spamming) this thread. I must insist that you additionally remove these posters from your list: 1. Irish Mike 2. Robert Ladd 3. Keiser Also, please do not give certified nutcase and deviant psycho Gary Carson two weeks. Please put in his termination effective IMMEDIATELY and have security escort him out NOW (and pay a bonus if they beat him during the escort).
