I was strictly an occasional drop in at the Cameo
I spent very little time around San Jose
Artichoke's was home in the 60's except for a one year stint dealing BK
for Jackie Gaughn at
the old El Cortez
After hours at Joe's we'd have a "private" game and weekends after houre
we'd go to Cliff Hoover's in Alviso

They had a camera in the Cameo. Played a lot of straight $600 limit
lowball there in the 70s. Played there a couple of times, back dooring
someone, as I was in. Went up to San Jose with BR aka Bernie Olsen
once. Had a game lined up. Three of us and three up there. Bernie
fucked up and we broke even. On the way home, Bernie asked to stop, as
he said he needed to go to the restroom. Never came back. Told us
later he thought we were going to kill him. He was about as worthless
a person as there ever was.

Was John Schireck. Wil Wilkinson owns it now.. Wil was banging Johns
wife and she got the place in the divorce, rumor has it. Wil bought
the lumber yard across the street and will expand or relocate. John
Schireck opened up the Outpost San Ramon which he just sold last June,
it's now a sports bar. John now co-owns the Livermore Casino, nice
place. Six tables, HE, Omaha, and some Asian shit.
I had my first legal drink and first legal stud game at the Grand!
