Alright so I have sold 59 squares in the RGP Superbowl pool and have made
the cutoff day Friday to sell them all. I do not want to be checking the
computer every 5 minutes on Saturday so Friday is the cutoff day.

41 squares left to sell!

If for some reason I do not get them sold I will transfer everything back
that was sent to me.

For those who may have OT killfiled please forgive my ignoring Usenet
etiquette to make sure everyone sees this message (everyone except for
those who may have me kilfiled that is)

If you are interested and are not aware of the details let me know and I
will paste the info in this thread.

5 days left.

There is one square left that is touching Paul. Square 42's top right
corner is touching Paul's bottom left.

Anyone wanting to touch Paul's bottom better move quickly.

So, if everyone put up $20 and got four squares, why is there an odd square?
29 divided evenly comes out to six or seven people, with one odd square left
over.

Oh wait! It looks like Mr. Bookworm only has ONE square. What the fuck is

It will have to equal out or at least come close so I can buy up a couple
to make it even. I also have to make sure it is ok with everyone that I
do that. At the current rate the squares would be worth 2.95. Say
someone bought 50.00 in squares they now have enough in the pot to buy
16.9 squares. That doesn't really equal out.

So let this serve as a direct poll for those who have bought squares.

For those who have bought squares:

Is it alright with you that we lower the amount the squares are worth IN
THE EVENT they do not sell out?

No. I say we keep it at $5 per square. There are 37 left. If on Friday
Morning there are some left then we should talk about it but only those
that have bought squares should be given a vote. If we drop the price then
no new comers should be aloud to buy in.

I totally agree with Chris. Friday morning, the people in it should
figure it out. We might even be willing to buy an extra square each if
that fills it up. Those that dont want to participate in the spirit of
fun, should just quit trolling and stfu.

Is this your idea of fun? I bet you pulled wings off of flies for

That is what I was talking about. ONLY if they all didnt sell and ONLY
the people who bought squares have a vote.

We would be dropping the $ to fit the number of squares already sold so
there would be no additional squares to go around.

I'm really looking forward to this football square thing. And it's not just

hell I'd play if it was a $0.25 thing as it is just for fun but I'd like
the thing to sell out. I just don;t think it would be fair to drop the
price and then have a bunch of people show up out of nowhere because it
dropped in price.

I would love to play (donate) in a $20 RGP home game but there haven't
been any higher then $5 that I can make. If you put one together on Stars
this Friday I will play. I won;t do FTP as i have not made a deposit there
yet and don't see doing it while I am profiting on Party.

Yes I have asked for stakes before some games but that is because I really
don't keep anything online. If anyone has been unhappy staking me they
have not made it known to me. If they had then we could have discussed it.
Other then that it is no one else's business.

Paul, I hope that you take it all.

Don;t worry the numbers are not set so even though you are touching you
can be better then him.

If I could I would give you 7-3 3-7 3-3 and 7-7

Ok cool. I've never done this before, so I'm going to make a concerted
effort not to touch Paul's squares. No guarantees though as I said, this
is new to me and it's quite possible I'll make a mistake or four.

you sit and wait, your squares are set with your name firmly on them. No
one can remove them from you. Once the numbers have been assigned I will
email them to the email address you send me.

Chris, I couldn't help but notice that Mr. Bookworm seems to have purchased
only one square. Is this a mistake? Or has the random computer thingy
failed to assign his other three squares. Please check into that, before
the playoff games start. We want to keep this clean and uncomplicated.

Hey fuckface I am in charge of the squares. There is nothing randomly
assigned about PICKING your squares. You pick whatever fucking squares
you want. The NUMBERS are random.

Chris and Susan were both nice enough to help you in this matter and your
squares are not changing because I am NOT going through this every day.

One question and a yes or no answer from you will suffice:

Do you want your money back?

You don't have to go through nothin every day. Just once, that's all. Just
move them so that they aren't touching your squares. That's all. Quit

Until Morph picks and it is next to your or too close to yours.

I am NOT doing that every day buddy.

I think it is cool you decided to be a part of this, but your squares are
locked unless you back out completely.

Well what's Morphy waiting for? Christmas? How long are we supposed to

Mr. Bookworm only has one because he choose to pay John only $5. This $5
only entitles him to one square not the four you purchased at $5 per
square totaling $20.

Look at it this way, You have 4 horses running in a 100 horse race. Mr.
Bookworm has 1 horse running in a 100 horse race.

Am I understanding this correctly? Does all the money in the pool get
divided out to the winners? Why don't you just pretend like the whole thing
is filled up in case it doesn't really fill up? Or if it comes up short,
then why don't you buy the unsold ones?

How much do the squares cost now? Nevermind what Fell suggested, what is
the current cost?

This is a copy of the OP I made about this. I guess you missed it:
========================================
Hello All,

Well I got the site all set and wanted to share how this is going to be
done.

I have a password and a username that I will be giving people to access
the site and make their picks, but first comes the money.

I have already made 10 picks at 5.00 a square. So I am in for 50.00 up to
this point and it also leaves 90 squares left to pick.

I think everyone on here has money on one site or another so I am guessing
the best way to do this would be to transfer on Pokerstars (this is the
only site I have an active account on)

I would appreciate an email saying that you transferred and once I get it
I will reply to the email with the username/password and a link to the
page.

It would be easier for me to keep track of if everyone picked their
squares under their RGP name. So Schmedley put Schmedley not 'I rule
squares' or something.

We are obviously doing 5.00 squares so the total prize pool will be
500.00. The following will be the breakdown for payouts:

20% 1st quarter
20% 2nd quarter
20% 3rd quarter
40% 4th quarter

Overtime does NOT count here. The end of the 4th quarter will end the
squares. So if there is a 5th quarter it does not matter for the purposes
of this pool.

So send me 5.00 per square on PS, shoot me an e mail and I will shoot you
the username/password/link to the page.

My username on Pokerstars is:

John_Brian_K (Dearborn)

My E mail is:
John_Brian_Kent_1677@Yahoo.Com

Payouts will take place by the next day.

I am at work right now so I cannot verify transfers until I get home
tonight (around 6:00est) So if you transfer now be patient.

Good luck everyone!

How can there be a 5th quarter? You're jerking me around, right? That's

What then? Are you telling me that the annoucers really call it a fifth
quarter? That's stupid, but it's ok with me. I don't watch football, so I
didn't know what they call it. I am not too big-headed to think I know

current cost is $5 per square. You will know what numbers you are rooting

So you give them 6 extra squares and send them back the remainder. You
can do 3rd grade division right? :)

Only up until $2.50 a square at the lowest. At that level, I have 20
squares and break even if I win any quarter, don't want to win a quarter
and still end up loser.

We have 59 squares sold so we are at 2.95 already without another square
sold. The more we sell the higher we go.

John said he is going to give out parts of the prize money for every
quarter. How does THAT work? I thought there would be only one winner at
the end decided by the final score. How is there enough money in it if he's
going to give some out for each quarter?

There are 2 options as to what is going on here.

1. You honestly have no idea what is going on.

2. You are trolling the fuck out of MY threads about this because you do
not like the Superbowl.

You have stated MANY times you think I am some kind of barbarian because I
like to watch football. You have also stated many times you would rather
do something 'constructive' during the superbowl, like read a book.

You manage to compose threads with correct spelling and with your opinion
usually well stated no matter if I like what those opinions are or not.
You get the nuances of certain posts, but act like a total fucking bafoon
in this thread.

YOU know perfectly well what a superbowl squares pool consists of, but are
taking this opportunity to act like a jerk.

You never once even considered buying a square and now you have no chance
of buying one because I am officially LOCKING this thread for you and
locking the superbowl squares from you.

Now leave my thread alone!

Screw you! I haven't asked anything in this thread that would not be a
reasonable question for someone who is not into football. It doesn't matter
that I might be smart in other things, but I can still be "dumb" in this
subject. Lighten the fuck up! Do you want me in this thing or not? You're

might be fun. I don't have to get into this, y'know. What a bunch of

Yeah this is a little pathetic that on a gambling group we cannot sell
superbowl squares for 5.00.

That being said I do not think you have bought any yet.

I guess some people may think I am going to run off with their 20.00 for a
total of 500.00 and run off to a deserted island to retire and live a
lavish life.

Dude. We can't get more than a full table for a $10 homegame because it's

That's a mean thing to say. Do you want to get into this thing or are you
just here to start shit? It sounds kinda fun and might give me a reason to
watch the playoffs, otherwise I never follow football. If there are not
enough people to make a 10 x 10 square, couldn't we just make it like a 9 x
9 square? As long as it's square? I've never done this before. Don't get
mad at me, but does it have to be a square? If it does, I don't see why
John can't just fill in the squares that don't get bought. What am I
missing?

Well the big problem is that if you do a 10x10 square there's 1000 squares
whereas if you do a 9x9 square there's only 999. I'm sure you can see why
this is an issue.

Then if no one has the square that is a winner, then no one wins, that's
all. Does there have to be a winner? Either John buys all the unsold
squares, or if an unsold square is the winner then everyone gets their money
back, I guess. What's so bad about that? By the way, it's 100 squares,
asshole, not 1000. I'm not stupid, and you're just jerking me around.
Also, if we make it 9 x 9, then that would be 81 squares. Why not just do
it however John wants to do it? It's his thing he started anyway. Start
your own squares thing, Morphy.

Go ahead and get in this thing, Morphy. I'd like to see my square beat your

I know what you said. I guess I was just hoping you would buy 4 squares
at 5.00 instead. not a big deal.

All the squares are the same price, right John? Am I understanding this

you?

Paul, right now, as we speak, send me $20 on stars and we'll take it from

You're not talking to who right now? Can't you somehow indicate who

There's no good way to say this, so...I said $10 squares because I didn't
want this turning into the same penny ante bullshit that everything on RGP
turns into.

We used to get 25-30 people to show up for a $20 RGP home game. Now you
guys can't get a full table for $5. We have morons every day talking
about how "profitable" and "juicy" all the online games are then they post
hands from 1c/2c or $1 sngs. It's a disgrace.

I was hoping to do 10.00 squares as well. That of course did not happen.
It is penny ante, but it is still fun. I know what you are saying as far
as getting people excited, but (and maybe I am wrong about this) maybe
50.00 is a lot of money to some people on here. Is that sad if true?
Yes, but it is what it is.

I agree. I was not around for the 25-30 people at 20.00 which sounds fun.
It really just seems like RGP is going the way of the dinosaur almost
literally.

I do not have time to 'subscribe' to other groups and have my roots here
which is kind of a double edged sword. You have the freedom to say
whatever the 'fuck' (haha) you want, but that also is the reason it is
half impossible to read.

Oh well.

I think it is a mix of that AND trust. I mean how hard is it to trust
someone on a group that has Russ on it. Add to that the hate that gets
spewed around here from the old fogies who sometimes miss their meds and
you end up with what we have.

Russ has never participated in RGP games and has never been considered a
core component of RGP unless we're talking about the noise side of the
signal:noise ratio.

The games used to be fun and challenging. For $20 or $30 those of us who
weren't high rollers could play competitively at our normal buyin level.
Those who played higher could throw in a buyin and give us a much more
competitive game than we were used to. It was still enough to make it
somewhat worth it for them to play, and they had fun at the same time.

For $5 those people don't think it's even worth it, and even those of us
who play for $20 or $30 normally find it a waste of our time. The thing
is, $20-$30 buyins are considered low stakes, yet half the people who play
RGP games would never consider putting "that much" up for a single
tourney. Add in the amount of sheer begging that goes on before a game,
and the fact that the overall play in the game PLAYS like a $5 tourney,
it's just not worth it for most people to play.

Nevermind all that shit, Morphy. Are you in this football thing or not?
You're the one who seems to be taking the fun out of this right now. If I
don't have something at stake monetarily then I won't even watch the
playoffs. I barely know what's going on during a game anyway. I don't even
know all the penalties. I know what "offsides" is. I'd like to buy some
squares in this thing just so I can beat YOUR ass at something.

Alright Paul, if you're in for $20 I'm in. Note that I'm just asking that
"Paul Popinjay" is in for $20, and not however many other personalities
and sock puppets you post on RGP with. Deal?

Paul now has 4 squares bought at $5 per square.

Ok, this is fine so far, but if I am going to have four squares, and they
are in a block with 100 squares, this is fine, but I don't want any of my
squares touching John's or Morphy's squares. Ok? I mean, can I pick my own
squares? If not, and they get picked randomly, then I don't want mine
touching Morphy's or John's squares. If they are, then I want to rearrange
them so that they are not. Or I'm backing out. That's all I'm saying.

Your squares were already picked prior to this post as per the email I got
and replied to from Susan.

There is some mild contact between you and John. Now that you have posted
this Morphy will no doubtedly touch yours too.

I don't have sockpuppets. But I'll do $20. I'll send it to Susan. I still
don't understand how you can have a winner at all four quarters, though.
And let me ask you this. Before it starts, do we know who is in and what
numbers they have? I'm serious. I'm not stupid, I'm just inexperienced.

Why is popTard afraid of RGP'ers figuring out his stars ID?
Same deal with Susan? What's up with that?

If we can get DF to give up Susan's ID, maybe we could
blackmail her into giving up the PirateMaker's =)

Read the link John sent out. It's pretty easy if you take a few seconds
to just read it. I imagine the site that lets you pick the squares also
shows you what else is picked and who else has them. I'll send $20 to
John tonight after work.

I did read it, and it said you number the squares 1-9, not anything about
random. I sent my money already. If he doesn't want me in this thing, then
I'll get my money back. But before it starts, I want to know more about
assigning the numbers, or the deal is off as far as I'm concerned. I don't

At the expense of looking like a tool for repeatedly saying the same thing
over and over:

The squares are picked randomly by the site.

I click a button when every square is sold and it randomly generates a
number for every square and you will then know what numbers are yours.

Everyone can see everyone elses numbers. You went through Susan who then
in turn went through Charrison (that whole thing seems funny to me, but
whatever) and Charrison has picked your squares already, but here is the
part where I need you to pay special attention to:

The numbers have not yet been picked. You have squares, but the numbers
will randomly generate when all the squares are sold. Ask Susan and or
Charrison for your numbers this Friday or Saturday.

Good luck buddy.

I don't think this is going to cut it. First of all, let me direct your
attention to square #39. It's touching one of your squares at the corner.
Then let's look at square #33. Guess who is directly adjacent underneath.
That would be YOU. Then let's also look at square #78. Guess who is
completely bordering my square on the left side. You again! That's 3
squares all touching YOUR squares. WHAT THE FUCK! I only picked four! So
80% of my squares are touching one of your squares in some capacity. I
don't like this. I want out, and I want my money back.

I think that's only if it goes into a 5th quarter. Otherwise, it's only
75% of your square that are touching his.

You also have two squares on the same vertical or horizontal line which
means you will have that number twice. That could be good or bad
depending on what number ends up on that line. I like to spread mine out.

Depends. If that row ends up being a 3, 7, 4, or 0 then that could be
great. If it is a 5, 9, 8, 2 then you probably got screwed.

Yes spreading them out has advantages.

Look at dogfuckerisgay, he has multiples on verticals and horizontals.

Paul, like I said I got the squares picked for you prior to you posting

If John sends me the money then I will send it to Susan and she can send
it to you.

I leave it in your and John's hands to sort out.

The numbers 0 - 9 will be filled in randomly after all the squares are
sold. I will email you and Susan the numbers you have at that point.

They cost $5.00 a square right now. Total Prize pool is therefore
$500.00, with $100.00 going to the winners of the first, second, and third
quarters, and $200.00 going to the person with the correct number at the
end of the fourth quarter ($3.00 squares would mean $60/$60/$60/$120)

John said there is $500 if everyone buys $20 worth. How can that be $500 if
it's a square? Wouldn't that be $2.50 per person, so if there is 100 people
then wouldn't it be $2500? It doesn't compute.

I'm not trolling, you moron. If you say it's only $500, then I assume it's
$500. I didn't say it was $2500, I just said that that's how it would be if

Paul - a grid is set up with 10 spaces across and 10 spaces down.

When you buy a square you put your name into one of the boxes.

After they are all sold the numbers are filled in radomly.

Say the NFC is the horizontal row - cards will be drawn from 0 to 9 and
entered outside the grid.

The AFC is vertical, and the cards are drawn again from 0 to 9 and entered
outside the grid.

If you have a square that matches up to a 7 for the NFC, and a 3 for the AFC
at the end of the first quarter and the score ends with the NFC ending with
a 7 (7, 17, 27 etc) and the AFC ending with a 3 you win the first quarter
money.

Same for half etc etc.

Has to be random. If not, 7s and 0s and 3s would be the most common and if
you knew in advance those squares would be picked immediately.

Sounds logical to me. But John hasn't said anything about randomness.
What's up with that?

Everything John does is random.

Can you explain to me a little more what these squares actually are? I
don't think I fully understand the concept? Maybe I'll get one, but I want
to understand what they are first.

It indeed is impossible for someone who is hip to understand a
square ...

Susan said the numbers are picked at random, but your page doesn't mention
random. How are you going to pick the numbers? What am I not
understanding?

This is taken from the site:

"Click this button to generate the numbers for your squares grid. This
will set the numbers for the rows and the columns and thus should really
only be clicked once all the squares have been filled and you are ready to
set your grid. If you click this button by accident, you can always clear
your numbers using the "clear numbers" button below. "
